I will be on the road travelling from Daytona Beach, FL to Providence, RI. I have to be in Providence on May 22-24 and June 4-6. I leave on May 18th and plan to be home on June 11th.

My Mom and I are going to see my brother's fashion show (he's graduating with a degree in Fashion/Apparel Design) and graduation.

I am looking for any fun drives, cities, places, etc. my MINI, my Mom and I would enjoy. Any suggestions?

I've driven Miami to Massachussets non-stop a few times and I know how one can come to thurst for some more challenging terrain. Consider this an invitation.

Yes, he is graduating from RISD.

I have to be in Tampa on the 15th, 16th, and 17th and am stopping in North Carolina on the 19th and 20th otherwise I would love to play with Milford's Curves! (I have plans on avoiding the Interstate and traveling through the mountains)

One of my nephews is at RISD. Great School for the creative.
If the scheduling is right you should go to the Providence Water Fires. http://www.waterfire.com/photos/index.html
Not a road trip, but certainly enjoyable.
If you are from FL you sure see enough of the water and don't want to visit Cape Cod.
Ever been to Newport, RI? Easy drive from Providence. The mansions are incredible.
You could drive the Blackstone Valley, which basically follows the Blackstone River through mill towns. Nice country if you get off the main roads. http://www.recreation.gov/detail.cfm?ID=(2591)

Here is one for you in Connecticut, close to your destination:
In WATERFORD, I95N Left exit to I395.
Proceed approx. 10-15 miles to Exit 83A, Rte 169. Go North, staying on 169.
Rte 169 is a designated scenic road in Ct. It winds through rural Connecticut along the RI border - beautiful country. A good restaurant along the way is the Vanilla Bean (at the intersection of Rte 169 & Rte. 44 in Pomfret): funky and casual, Coca-Cola introduced Vanilla Coke here a couple of years ago).
After lunch, head to Providence:
East on Rte 44
Right on Kennedy Dr. (1.3 mi)to
I395 South (towards Norwich). Go about 8 miles to
Exit 91E US 6E. This takes you into Providence (15 or so miles)
Other places to check out in CT:
>Stonington Borough (I95 exit 91). Cool fishing village, great views and food.
>Essex. Exit 69 off I95 to Rte 9. 3 miles to exit 3, left then right @light then right @stop sign. Great town (I live here). Typical New England village on the water, have a pint @ the Griswold Inn. PM me and I'll try to meet you there.)
>Mohegan Sun (exit 79A I395). Even if you don't gamble, very interesting place. My RISD freinds love it; a visual assault and some good food.
