Thumbs up July 20: Litchfield, Ct Mini Meet

UPDATE 6/23: Word From Cooperspeed Arrives!

Official Schedule
Litchfield Area Meet - July 20th

***Lunch will be a picnic style lunch!*** Either bring your own food, or stop and get food at the Stop and Shop before the meet!

Meet Time/Place: 9:30 A.M. @ Litchfield High School. Address: 14 Plumb Hill rd. Litchfield, CT 06759 (for the NAV users).

Directions: From I-84 take Route 8 North. Take exit 42 (Litchfield, 118). Take a left at end of exit onto 118. When approaching Litchfield green, stay to the right, and take a right (straight at the stop) onto 202. Turn left at the light by the Stop and Shop (5th Light). Take your first right onto Plumb Hill rd. Then take your immediate right into Litchfield High School parking lot. ***For people comming from New York/Danbury on I-84 East, it might be easier for you to take route 7 to 202 (exit 7 off of I-84) Follow 202 until you reach the first stop light in Litchfield (after the True Value hardware store) and take a right at that light. Then take the next right onto Plumb Hill rd.

**If you have any direction questions, send cooperspeed13 a PM**

Schedule:
(1) ~9:30 - Meet at Litchfield High School.
(2) ~10:00/10:15 - Depart for the first half of the drive. (3) ~12:00 - Stop for picnic lunch at Topsmead State Forest.
(4) ~1:00 - Depart on second half of the drive.
(5) ~3:00 - End of meet.
**Times are estimates and are subject to change.

This meet will happen rain or shine!

-----------------------------------

We will have an unofficial pre-meet departure point from Newtown CT to meet the MINIacs in Litchfield at 9:30am. That is convenient for those of you who will coming from I-84 Westward and would like to arrive in a pack.

We'll be leaving Newtown at 8:30am. Here's the address:

Sticks and Stones Farm
199 Huntingtown Road

Directions:

Get off 84 at 9 , 10 or 11 and go to 25 south.

About 5 miles past the flagpole you'll come to a stripmall with a Super Stop and Shop and after that a
Mobil station on your right. Take a right at the first light south of
the Mobil station onto Meadowbrook Road.

At the end of Meadowbrook, turn left onto Huntingtown Road

About a mile and a half you'll see Maltbi Ave (signed) on the right.
Our driveway is the next left (between two tall stones).

See ya there!

Cooperspeed has been foaming at the mouth since the Twelve. Since then he's arranged a rough of his morning route, a luncheon at his lovely HOUSE, a tight crew of helpers, a scheduled preliminary runthrough next week, and after much deliberation, a GO DATE!

There's a thread over at MCO that details all the cofusing howabouts that went into this.

As a member of the organizing crew, I will personally be sure all pertinent information makes it to this initial post.

It promises to be a great run!!

Just ran the plotted morning course with my girlfriend. I have some good news and some bad news. The whole 75 mile route took me 2 hours and 15 min. to complete. Of the 75 miles there are about 7-10 miles of dirt roads. Most of the roads are pretty good, but some have some bumps. One of the roads that was on my map doesn't exist, so I have to do a little replanning, maybe I can even try to avoid some of the dirt roads if possible. That was the bad news. The good news is that this is going to be ONE HELLUVA RUN! GMINIO and AntsMINI are definitely going to approve this! Now its time to map the second half of the day.

Glad to hear it, CooperSpeed! Isn't setting up a run serious FUN???!!!!! Your girlfriend must be loving it.

Good luck editing out some of the dirt. There are some beauties here in New Milford area I left out for the same reasons. If you ever see Judd's Bridge on a map you'll see what I mean. One long, beautiful dotted line.

Maybe we could set up a scenic dirt road meet for some other time...

Ok, new route planned out. Minimum dirt, and I finished the second half of the day. Time to run the whole thing!

When are you planning on the dry run? If I'm free, I would like to tag along, anytime after Tuesday should be fine with me, I leave for Tucson, AZ in a week and it would be nice to make a run before then.

Hey CooperSpeed! You're MINI's not blue!!!!!! But you're route is stunning and fantasticly twisty. What was that name you were thinking of? And missed a chance to see the logo ideas. Regardless, your girlfriend is lovely and your motor is mean. But those roads you've picked out are sweet as pie!

Can't wait to see the second half!!!

The second half should be just as good. If it isn't, I can always remap. As for a name, I was thinking something with Litchfield Hills in it. Don't really have a catchy phrase like "12 most dangerous curves". As for a logo, I was thinking about a mini just flying off a hill, and then have that inside the MINI wings. I will try and draw something up for Sunday.

Speaking of Sunday, we are going for a dry run of the second half of the meet on Sunday. It should last about 2 hours for the route.

Cooperspeed, I will be communicating with you on here from now on because there is a girl on MCO who I used to date who has become pyscho and we might have to get the police involved. As a result I no longer want to make my presence known to her on MCO in hopes that she will drop this stalker like behavior. So if you need to reach me, reach me here.

Y'know, ants, i did notice an eighteen wheeler loosely tailing us throughout the last runthrough. man. It even went left at 7 like you did. There were points on some of the twistier roads I thought it was going to ram me. I have to hand it to her - she's quite a driver!

Maybe you can help her miss the next runthrough by pretending to cancel on MCO...

How on earth she is so dense as not to search your same screenname on MINI2 is beyond me.

AH HA! Now I know why you are moving to the other side of the country And you were trying to blame it on the weather. Pyscho EX girlfriends are scary, based on past personal experience, I suggest parking your car indoors or under constant surveillance.

She doesnt even own a MINI, so she doesnt know this site exists. The only reason she started posting on MCO was because I told her about it. But she actually lives in Washington DC, and when I told her I didnt want to see her anymore she went nuts. It is really scary. She is now fake posting under the name "minimouse" or something like that on MCO. She even started talking to L MINI then CALLED HER AT HOME to tell her about me. Keep in mind this girl has never met L Mini in person nor have I. Very scary stuff. So anyways thats the deal for now.
