I continue to be amazed at the sponsorships and door prizes people are able to procure. It seems to be like a snowball rolling down a hill, getting bigger and picking up steam as it goes. Except that this giant snowball ends with a good time for all, rather than eventually reaching the base of the hill, wiping out the lodge, and killing 17 tourists from New Jersey who came up to ski for the weekend. At least that's what we hope...

One minor nit to pick on the current latest and greatest version of the MOT flyer pdf file; It has a line that says "Help us excede the 2003 count of 73 MINIs", should be "exceed" instead of "excede". It was correct in an earlier version...

I'm so excited....I actually had to scroll down on the Sponsors' web page!

Also...

Perhaps Autoweek would like to do an article on MOT2004. They sometimes have car shows, motoring events, personality profiles and the like. Considering MINIUSA will be there it IS truly an event worthy of a page or two, eh what?

and finally...

Beth and Louis -- got your Yankee Candle registration! Thanks!

(I know this because it is the #1 most failed link on my web site!)

Thanks Ian
Actually, you might have a point with the searching... that could be why they show up on some sites and not others - depends if the site sticks to all the HTML rules or not. I think IE bends the rules a lot as a hangover from when FrontPage was trying to be an alternative to HTML...

Still not showing up for this site or MOT, but it does show up for places like ebay...

Putting the following strings into the <head> section of an index page should make favicons work for Safari as well as most other browsers.

<link rel="icon" href="favicon.ico" type="image/x-icon">
<link rel="shortcut icon" href="favicon.ico" type="image/x-icon">

No change for me
I've cleared the cache, quit safari and restarted it, been to other sites...
Any Mac experts care to guess at what I'm doing wrong..? (Sorry if tech support is too OT)

My MSIE only works if I drop a new shortcut into favourites - I did not have the MINI2 picture ...

Gadget my Safari showed the new icon immediately after they updated it the other day, I did nothing special. Which version do you have? Are other sites showing icons? Are you looking to the left of the URL in the address bar for that matter? (Sorry I had to ask..)

Yes, I'm looking in the right place... They show up in the address bar and in the bookmarks lists. There are somethere for other sites, so I know they work sometimes. I've tried deleting the bookmark and re-adding it. No effect.
I'm using Safari 1.2.1 (v125.1) - whatever that means..!!

Very smart move. I envision Steve sending out a notice that due to overwhelming response the registration will be closed........

I may send in for another registration......think of what it would be worth on eBay!

(I'm only half joking you realize. This MOT thing has the potential to get crazy)

What you mean, potential?

Dear Emma and Anna,

Hi, girls, it's your favorite uncle again. Today, I got an inkling that your Daddy was about to try something very very slimy. He was planning to register for MINIs on TOP again. Now, that would be twice for the Baker family. Then, if things worked out according to his nefarious plan, he would sell his second registration at an auction.

I am very concerned! This type of behavior is so unlike your dear Dad. There must be something bothering him very much. Usually, we would expect this kind of scheme from only one person in the crowd, now wouldn't we. That's right. Oh, you kids are so bright. Please remember to thank Mommy for those genes. Sure, it would be Uncle Steve who might try something like this. It is almost expected by now. Remember when he told you that, if you mastered the unicycle, he would take you to the circus and then we found out that he was planning on indenturing you to the ringmaster's wife? Wow, that was a close one, huh?

So look, kids, please take good care of Daddy, watch him closely for the next few weeks, and write me if he tries anything weird or continues to act silly. For example, if he keeps talking in computerese or spends the mortgage money on uplink dishes, just let me know.

I am thinking of you both and can't wait to see you in June. Have you been practicing the magic trick I taught you about palming pieces of paper? I certainly hope so. The stakes are getting higher and, remember from my last letter, Harvard and Yale await you.

Love to you both,

Uncle John

Lawdy, Lawdy, the Cross I bear.

This gives new meaning for the term "Funny Uncle".

And as for you Ian, it's widely known that both Max and I are certified as full crazy. Max just has more lenient keepers.

Just had a friend come back from Trinidad. He stopped by, dropped off a bottle of Fernandes Black Label Rum.

My posts may be a little incoherent for a spell...........
