Ditto the tyrant's hot water warning. I've watched windshields go into millions of pieces when guys thought they had that as a solution. Rumor is that himself covers his entire Stryker with Crisco for decreasing wind resistance, then I think he dumps it in the deep fryer up at Cap't. Elmer's.
I would turn the lights on and hope the oncoming motorists find the prism effects festive. Then, if you have washers, using Rainex windshield stuff will do a good job of clearing the ice.

That is what I am thinking too. However, Mini USA does allow you to torture yourself good. It lets you see the status of your car during the pre-build to delivery process. I am going to go nuts (well more than I already am).

That video over there in NAM of the RED S on CURVY ROAD got me through October order and April delivery. Just come here and we'll nurse you through the nite.

GIMINI I'm here for you too my brother. Wished your ride still looked like the picture.
Rehabed in weeks.

They remounted my lower thingy torn away in the cornfield or was it the transition from road to sidewalk?

Hot water crack the plastic headlight lenses? Somehow I can't fathom that. I'll avoid the windshield since they are infamous for cracking on the MINI anyway. I doubt I'll use the grease method, don't like the idea of the mess and dirt/wild game attraction. I tried just turning the headlights on but even after a few minutes and driving to work and back the ice was still there. I ended up rapping the lense with my knuckles which made the ice crack and then was able to slide it off.

Well, hitting the 1500 mile drive shortly, gotta have coffee and load the car...

I am pretty sure the ice will just go away on its own. This method may take some patience. If you don't have the patience, I have found that a nice warm apple pie pressed onto each headlight will make that pesky ice nothing more than a memory.

Isn't that a great way to heat pies too ... stick them to headlights; turn on and wait till hot, then lick off?
Presumably works better on the hotter running Xenons? And they have built in washers when you have finished ...

Ian,

Try filling your washer reservoir with pure maple syrup for that "real New England" flavor.

For the ice on the headlights, I just use my ice scraper I use on the windshield. Oh yeah, windshield number 4 should be put it any day now (stress crack - happened with the climate control in "super defog" mode)... of course, it's life epextancy is less than 3 months thanks to all the winter driving I do.

If you have the cold weather package and run the syrup through the heated washer nozzles it comes out warm. Mmmmm.

How about this......turn lights on, lift bonnet, align car so that sun shines on headlights, flick lights 3x followed by pause then 2x more, then I swear those out there who control CCM's every move will send a zexion beam down and melt that ice.

Lawdy, Lawdy, the Cross I bear.

Rick, Where did you get your headlight de-icer? I've been looking for one for ages. That's the deluxe model, right? It squats over the MINI and releases a luke warm stream of de-icing liquid from its dual orifi.
