Here it Goes.

How about Sunday September 14th at 10:00.
The Westerly Dunns Corners / RTE 1 Wal-Mart.
Cruise to Newport roughly 40 minutes, do Ten Mile Drive, picnic and Kite flying optional. Family type event, please no reckless driving.

Being the first event I think we should go MINI only, sorry vdubs. I am open to popular opinion.

Please try to give me an accurate count on how many Minis we will have. More to follow.

Also, if anyone has any suggestions I'm all ears.

Just my opinion, but I'd re-think the meeting/starting place. Depending on traffic, it could take us a looooong time to exit the parking lot onto Rt 1.

OK, I'm familiar with the area because I'm constantly running to the Home Depot in Westerly to try and keep my house from falling down. Traffic can be heavy & I assume we will be heading north on Rt 1, which requires a left (across traffic with no traffic light). From the other MINI meets I've been to, everyone likes to start out together (usually entails folks pulling out and then to the side of the road to wait for everyone else). I just thought this would be difficult and somewhat dangerous on a 4-lane highway such as Rt 1. Hey, its just a suggestion.

You did not strike a nerve. It's hard to take someone from MO seriously. I did not know you hadn't changed your locale. This is the first event I am planning just to enjoy our MINI's. Do you have any suggestions on an alternate meeting spot? One other thought I had was to meet in Mystic by the Aquarium?

Pincity - The aquarium would be fine (Mystic should be quieter after Labor day) as would a quieter gathering site near the Wal Mart you first suggested. Depending on the number of MINIs, getting started out as a group can be quite difficult. Rt 1 is not a bad choice and I am only familiar with the area up to the Wal Mart. Perhaps a meeting area a little farther north? Most of the meets I've been to use schools as gathering places, any around there?
Oh, and your comment about it being hard to take someone from MO seriously...I can relate after spending 5 years there

MoMini- There is an Elementary school three blocks away that is in a nieghborhood but would allow for rt turn on rte 1 north. That would probably work. Any other ideas?

Ok, count me in no matter where you start from. All I would need is simple directions from either West Warwick or Providence RT 95 area to get me to the starting point.
