is a map or RI. I will be waiting in Jamestown for all the MINIs to meet me there. When you look on the map I will be on the off ramp right before you get to the toll booth... on that map it's right above the N in newport bridge. There are only 2 exits in Jamestwon and you are looking for the second exit. You will see the toll booth when you exit about 150 yards befor the toll.
MAKE SURE YOU GET OFF AND DON'T GO TO THE TOLL BOOTH...
I will have some tokens and we can "pool" money together and go inside to the toll booth main office and buy rolls to split. I go over this bridge a every day so I can take any extra tokens, but I am not loaded so $ would be appreciated. The bridge is normally $2 each way and token reduce that to $1 each way. I will also be waiting with maps with directions on where we are going while in Newport because I doubt we will be able to keep a large group together in downtown newport with all the trafic and lights... so I will have maps ready and we will wait at cetain points of interest for people to catch up.... I figure we will meet in Jamestown and then go to Ft Admas for some pictures and then on to brenton park for more pictures and the picinic. Their shopuld be a dells truck at Brenton point so you can all experience one of RI's best drinks... Dell's frozen lemonaid...
After lunch we can all figure out what everyone wants to see and I am more than willing to lead everyone around Newport to all the sites... We can also o to the beaches now for free so that will be on the list... I have a decent digital camera (10D) and tripod that I will be bringing, and others are incouraged to bring thiers (the more pics the better) so we can get a lot of good pictures...
How many MINIs are coming so I can have some idea as to how many token to get??? I'm guessing around 15 ish, but roll call...
See you Sunday at 10:45am at the offramp next to the newport bridge toll booth. People coming down from Provdence can meet me there too if you want, and I know another nearby good parking place if we have a lot of cars to keep us all together...
FYI and am not really parking on an offramp for safeties safe. I turns into a wide access road and I will be waiting on that, but there is no where else to go off the offramp so you won't be able to miss me...
For those following PINCITY from westerly he will be driving THE SPEED LIMIT up route 1. This is a warning as there are a LOT of cops their that love to give tickets to tourists and for any other reason they can dream up. The ticket for a few mph over the limit so it just isn't worth it. The limit is I beleive 50mph so it will feel VERY SLOW, but there are always cops there... They had a field day with a corvette convention a feww weeks ago so it would be good to keep our noses clean... I'm just putting this here to forwarn you guys as to why he is driving the speed limit. There is a good reason for this...
