anyone up for a time trial at Lime Rock????
Not many cars, no speed limit, in fact, you have to go as fast as you can - that's fun!

I'm borrowing a helmet from a BMW instructor in the office behind mine. I should get some instruction, though.

I haven't done it in a while, but check out www.ctautoevents.com
The limerock.com webssite has links to various clubs holding events there, also.
Probably would be a Tuesday, Friday, Saturday....
I want to go sometime!

Do you feel like starting a thread? You're the one with the experience Mister Braun. What kind of costs are we talikg about. Would there be instructionals? I bet some people would like to know if you can rent helmets somewhere. You'd have no trouble filling up an event. The colder the better, I'd say. Just took a ton of country roads, the MINI loved the brisk air.

I'l start a thread if you really don't want to..

Hey!!! Thanks a ton to you and the rest of the MINI of New Fairfield bunch that brought us to the awesome event!

Good idea Gene. Now what do we call a bunch of MINIs tearing up the track at Limerock whenever they can? LimeMINIs? Gotta be something better than that. LimeMINI Leprochauns? liMINIrock?

This sounds like you would need to have experience on a track.(?) Personally, I would be fearful of tearing it up on a track with a bunch of first timers. Myself included.
Is this just a drive day or would it include instruction and track time?
Agree w/ G that colder weather brings new life to our cars.

I know two instructors in my vicinity. What does that mean? Can't we scare up some learnin before all the newbies (MSI) slam into each other? CCM's got a point. Kinda risky even for a race track given two or three loose nuts.

So is this Lime Rock on MINI track day? I think I see G, JuanCarlosdeSecco, and pbraun in that mess:

Yeah, most of these groups have instructors for novices, as well as special and strict rules regarding driving on the track with the "group" (such as no passing in corners, only on the front straight....etc....safety issue things like that), practice before the solo track timed runs.
For the timed runs, it is only 2 cars on the track at a time, and they time the release of the second car half way through the first one's lap, so neither ever see one another.
You practice with the group, then have the track to yourself for a timed run.
