| This evening, after unsuccessfully trying to secure, in person, a last minute dinner reservation for this weekend at Babbo , I dejectedly walked away and happened upon an EB MCS parked on 8th Street - Mass. plates with an Herb Chambers frame, probably not more than a month old by the looks of it! |

| Funny, how ironic! Sunday around 3:30pm there was a crazy red porsche with red alloy wheels North on the West side highway around 125th street. He was darting in and out of traffic, and I followed but not as crazy as he and this dumb lincoln who decided to follow. The crazy thing about the porsche is that when he down shifted, flames shot out of his exhaust! When we pulled up next to him, he indicated shame on you to us with his fingers... HAH! There were lots of MINI's on our trip to NYC. We saw at least 10 parked on city streets, and We waived to a cool Indi Blue Bonnies. riving in NYC and avoiding Taxi's has never been more fun when you drive a MINI! BTW.. What's up with the New MUNI-METERS? We got a $105 ticket!?!?! when we parked at what we thought was a legal spot and paid the $5 for 2hrs. Lame! I leave for 2 years and all hell breaks loose! | Yeah boston/Cambridge/Somerville is brutal! They tow and boot the heck out of you. Funny, though, it's is sometimes cheaper to pay for the ticket than to park in a garage in downtown Bosotn ($27 park in garage, $25 for parking ticket at a meter or 2hr spot) Doesn't help that every neighborhood has permit parking. | MUNI METERS in NYC are revenue generating machines. If you pay for 2 hours, but leave after one, there is no way for the next guy to know that there's an hour left. He simply pays for his block of time, so the parking spot can now earn twice as much as if there were a traditional meter instead. It also means the the dude who collects the quarters need only go to the pay location to collect the change deposited for over one hundred parking spots. Clever idea, really. And if you DON'T know the rules, $105 parking ticket. Ouch! 2003 JCW S, equipped with double bass for emergency jazz gigs |

| Yeah. I'm fighting the ticket. I usualy do not pay for parking in NYC, I park on the street in my old hood and take the subway to where ever we are staying. We decided to go to Josies for Brunch and there was NO parking to be found sans this muni meter rubbish. oh well.. sorry for hi-jacking the thread.... | The numbers are growing! First thing this morning, in my little town, I saw a handsome, Dark Silver MINI S with black roof heading north on Rte. 1, towards the village of Port Chester - then, as I turned the corner, I spied an Indie Blue, white roof and mirrors, two bonnet stripes, ralley lights and NY plates that said "MINIAMUSE" - I think. Next to catch my eye, was a sophisticated Pepper White, with lovely black roof, zipping towards the train station at about 8:30am. Little did I know that I'd see her twin about 40 minutes later on Riverside Drive...and a deep Red Velvet on Broadway at 86th Street. I've never seen that many in such a short period of time! :white: :white: |

| I've been working off-site lately .. So I've been taking the lower NJ Turnpike and 195. I have seen several as of late, LY/LY, DS/B, & PS/B just name a few. Mostly heading in the other direction. Just one travling in the same direction. I waved and got no response .. However this morning I was driving beside a porsche on RT 34, we both slowed for a red light. The light turned before we got there. I dropped to 2nd at 35 and floored it. He was left in the dust. At the next light, he waved and gave me a thumbs up. Kinda suprised me coming from a porshce driver.Best response from another MINI is a PS/B close to my home town. I was sitting at a light waiting to make a left. The MINI almost stopped in the middle of the intersection, honked and waved. We honked and waved back. However we weren't the only ones honking by then as she was holding up traffic Motor on, Boomer Last edited by Boomer; Nov 7th, 2003 at 12:24 PM. |
