| Necessary listening; Dr Fatkins But if you're at work, maybe you best ought to be closing the ol' office door first... -Ricardo |

| John, you've got to try the Top of the Hill Grill in Brattleboro. Hickory smoked brisket, pulled pork, ribs, turkey, and chicken. Only problem is they use their own version of Rudy's "Sissy Sause" since New Englanders seem incapable of handling the "heat". |
| ||||
| We will need to try that one, ol' buddy. Note I didn't mention (again) the 8th Wonder of the World in Putney nor can I recall any great BBQ in Athens, GA. Can you? Lawdy, Lawdy, the Cross I bear. |

| So it is the Sissy Sauce (not making fun, that is what they call it) for you then. When I took a coworker there, he got the spicy beans. I warned him and said becareful as it is more powerful than you think. He didn't listen and ate a whole pint. An hour later we are sitting in the car driving from a hub site, and it is nice and cool in the car. I look over and he is sweating a lot (he is bald and his head is covered in sweat). I ask him if he is hot, and he said no, it was the beans. I had to take him back to the hotel so he could rest and have them work through his system. Needless to say we avoided the beans on the next trip. Winslow 2008 R56 Cooper - Pepper White with Black roof -- "Oliver" |

| I realize now that I have made a few on-topic (MINI related) posts to the off-topic thread lately, so it's time to go off-topic. ![]() The minute depth of field effect is much more pronounced on the full size image, but mini2 has some pretty stringent image size requirements for uploaded files... So far, I've got the following lenses for the Digital Rebel: The "stock" 18-55mm f/3.5-f5.6 lens Canon - EF 55-200mm f/4.5-5.6 II USM Lens Canon Wide Angle EF 35mm f/2.0 Autofocus Lens For you 35mm film purists, multiply all those focal lengths by 1.6 to get effective focal lengths for the Digital Rebel... so my new prime lens is effectively a 56mm lens. I was looking for something around 50mm effective (since I read somewhere that a fast 50mm prime is a lens everyonw should own), so it came down to 35mm=56mm or 28mm=45mm. The 28mm lenses were either slower or more expensive than the 35mm, so I went with the 35mm. I do miss the quiet focusing of the USM zoom when I switch to the prime... but the USM versions of the primes were way too expensive. I'm off to the photo place this afternoon to get some prints made of some of my snowboarding trip photos. Ricardo, what shop do you use? I had Photo Garden do one print from digital for me already using a wet process, and it looks good to me. |
| ||||
| I use the Ritz Camera in the Staples Plaza across from the Sheraton in South Burlington. I've never done digital print stuff with them (being a non-digital sort of guy), but I'm always very pleased with their 35mm print work, and I've heard good things from others about their digital prints. Since we're sharing lens collections, my toys are; Canon EF 28-90mm f/4-5.6 USM Tamron 672DE AF75-300mm f/4-5.6 LD Macro Samyang 500mm f/8 reflex mirror plus 1.4x and 2.0x teleconverters and a Nikon 6T close-up lens... I'd love if they were all Canon USM lenses, but not being independently wealthy, that's not an option. If someone wants to buy me something like Canon's EF 400mm f/2.8L IS USM or EF 600mm f/4L IS USM, I'd be really grateful... -Ricardo |

| I'll take the new 70-300 DO IS USM lens..! How's that for a bunch of acronyms..! The Diffraction Optics make it about the size of the 28 - 90 zoom and about as expensive as an L series lens ![]() The L series 100-400 IS zoom is sweet too... However, I'll settle for the 70-300 IS zoom that's not the DO one as my next lens. I've currently got the 18-55 stock lens and a 75-200 zoom that my wife had for her film rebel. Thinking about a tele converter or an extension tube too... Can't decide if I want to go tele or macro... ![]() Religion is like a huge dog. | Have a happy holiday weekend everyone. In case you notice my absence, I'm heading up to Montreal to party for the weekend while my Mini is on its party boat across the atlantic. Gadget for my D60 I have a Sigma 15-35 and Canon 28-135 IS USM, together they cover the bases pretty well. You'll see me shooting aplenty up at MOT. |
| ||||
| Have fun in Montreal. Nice city. I had some expensive sneakers stolen from me in Montreal. Don't ask. Hope the rain stops for you. Missing my buddies Dan, Ed, and Diane but glad I have three angel buddies , And on a quest to Right Secco's Wrongs |

| I really like Montreal. Eat at the Auberge Bonaparte in the Old Town. Excellent food and wine. We even stayed there on our second trip so we never had to leave..! ![]() Religion is like a huge dog. If it's yours it's very friendly and comforting, but it scares the heck out of everyone else. |
