Oh great omnipotent CCM, how did you know that I just happened to choose seeing The Prisoner of Azkaban this afternoon, rather than attending the car show in Greenwich, CT?

Here's another old name from the 70's: Boz Scags. I heard one of his songs this afternoon while driving with my daughter...she kind of rolled her eyes but I noticed she did start humming at the end.

(the windows player didn't work for me, but then again, I did just see get to see Hermione on the big screen. And, yes, I am a Harry Potter fan, as well as the mother of one.)

It was a sketch from SNL where Hermione returns after summer with more "oomph" in her shirt.

Aha! I should have suspected as much. Thanks for the info on the oomph.

Knowing Steve, before I downloaded it I did suspect as much.

Hmm, if being interested in "oomph" signifies the Great One's interests, perhaps other MINI males have similar tastes? Today's New York Times, in the Week In Review, offers a glimpse into other driver's libidinous interests: There's a Reason BMW Drivers Zip Along the Autobahn
Quote:
From Motown to Munich, automobiles are marketed as a tool of sexual conquest. In Germany, though, cars are so prized that it's not clear, given a choice, that men would choose the girl over the gearshift.

Several recent surveys here have studied the link between cars and sex in the German psyche. While it may not be as deep an exercise as pondering the role of romanticism in the land of Goethe, the results make for juicy reading - and are, in their trashy way, quite revealing.

Who would have predicted that German men, offered a weekend with Pamela Anderson or a Ferrari, would chose the Ferrari by nearly nine to one? Or that Porsche drivers get less action of a nonautomotive kind than the drivers of Volkswagens, BMW's or even Volvos?...

The good news, for a country plagued by a low birthrate, is that just being in a car can make Germans frisky. In another poll, by an auto club in Stuttgart, one-third of respondents said they fantasized about sex while stuck in traffic jams. Only 10 percent thought about finding an alternate route.

They don't mention MINI owners.

That's because we are all so confident and have nothing at all to compensate for

OTRA, we're HP fans too. Didn't go today but will soon. We've read all the books and even went so far as reading them aloud while on long trips. I can admit to having Boz Scaggs on 8 track way back in the day. I'm glad that era is past!

Speaking of good reading, the next in the Dark Tower/Gunslinger series by Stephen King comes out Tues. 6/8. Been waiting for this one for far too long.

That Hermione grows up bit was really funny. Their characterizations are so well done.
Pez was all over that.

I can't wait till it happens for real. The actress is only 14.

Tsk, tsk, pezboy... You've got a few years to wait, me thinks.

You know, Steve, I've never read any of Stephen King's books...but I do love Phillip Pullman's trilogy known as His Dark Materials.

Anyway, the new HP movie is quite good - but I was surprised when it ended. I've read all the books myself - and naturally so has my offspring. Never thought of reading them aloud...hmm...

I haven't read the books. I thought the first one was kind of lame. The 2nd one was pretty good though I can't even remember what happened in it. I saw the 3rd one on Friday and thought it was alright. Seemed kind of long though, and suffered from LOTR syndrome...where in the last 20 minutes of the film there are at least a half dozen times when the movie should have ended, or seemed like it was going to end.

Yeah, 4 years until the remote possibility of anything cool happening with her.

Just back from Harry and The Prisoner too - very enjoyable; excellent character casting ... loved the night bus sequence

Anyone seen this Mitsubishi AutoX warranty story?

Seems this story is winding up rapidly at the moment:
Mitsubishi "RESTRICTED WARRANTY" after autoX use

Is this going to be killed in the first court case, or become more common? Might we see MINI treat its customers this way? Steve?

Steve doesn't care. He's got deep pockets now with those 140 regs. He already probably bought something else with the cash.

Is it confirmed they are actually doing that? Seems like a rumor to me, though I didn't read the entire thread. I'm sure the SDCA, SCCA, and any other group would try to fight it if it was legit...assuming they made enough money to take it to court.

Looks like Mitsubishi is producing their hot hatch to be used as a poser. All their commercials will now feature the car cruising really slowly with a big bass tube thumping annoyingly. It doesn't make sense to advertise your car as one you can thrash and then say screw you when you do.

Anyone notice that the Fish has joined the up early crowd. Should say awake early. Perhaps he is finally maturing.

Yeah, but I went back to sleep. MOT worries have me sleeping like a baby. I sleep for an hour then wake up and cry for an hour.
