I know what you mean..! I used to think most of them were OK, VBH was a bit wooden, but she was OK if it was just a car review. Who's that new guy - he's awful..! And what's with the two of them just doing bits to camera in a diner..? This was the first Fifth Gear I'd watched in a while and I couldn't stand it. I just scrolled through to the MINI part and then quit.
I hope Richard Hammond gets his memory back soon..!

Ever see the TSB (technical service bulletin) for the freezing door handles on the early cars? Even with the TSB, I cannot get the work done on my car for free, and the parts and labor cost is crazy to swap in the new door handles that don't freeze. So, I get to put a "roof" of electrical tape over the door handle to try to keep water from getting in and freezing.

You know what the cost is to diagnose / reset a check engine light? I did, but I blocked it out... it was way more than I expected.

I know there's nothing MINI of Peabody can really do for people that are out of warranty, but it still sucks.

So, what DOES it cost? (46,848 miles)

I can tell you how to reset it, but not what caused it.

I'm in the same situation. Plus tirerack's wheel choices for JCW's are for pre-May 2006 builds. Ours is a post-May factory build, so it included the brake kit.

Dropped the car off at MOP today. The transmission leak was being caused by a seal that was pinched. (That's the good news) The bad news is that they have to remove the tranny to get to the pesky seal so I am sans MINI for the next couple of days. MOP did however get me a rental (much appreciated!!!) Saw GBMINI there (is he sick?)

In case you were wondering what the Pumpkin Festival was all about, here are some pix. Neat to see and some of them were pretty creative. And there were fireworks! Who doesn't like fireworks?

Quack quack, Jack

Pumpkin man. Like a snowman, only with pumpkins.

Nighttime was the highlight. And this was the smallest tower!

I noticed that "pre-May 2006 build" notation on the the tirerack site. What exactly is the significance of the May 2006 build date? I guess I sneak in under that bar, as my car is an April build (completed production on 4/10/06). But as far as I know, all factory JCWs have had the big brake kit since factory-built JCWs started rolling off the line in November 2005. What happened in May?

This set off a bunch of red flags, given all the talk that only a few 16" rims fit over the JCW brakes, etc. I sent an email off to tirerack, explained my concern, cited the larger rotor size, etc., and the response was:

Thank you for your inquiry to the Tire Rack. All of the fitments listed on our site will work and have been pre-tested to ensure clearance. We have taken in to consideration the larger hardware that car has. Rest assured what's on our snow pack screen does fit properly.

I've never had any issues with tirerack, but given what I've heard I'm still pretty leery about the suggestion that a 15" rim would fit over the JCW brakes. Might have to jack it up this weekend and see how the clearance is with my 15" Borbets that I still have from Mr Bean Mk 1...-Ricardo

Rico et al: whenever I have had ultra technical questions of tire rack, I have called and asked for Alex Maroulis (who manages the tire rack forum over on NAM) . He's the man!
A while back I called and asked him if big brakes would fit inside my R88 16's and without hesitation he said NO.this guy knows his merde.

out of my mind.........back in five minutes.
