Jared,
I did the same thing with my 17s in NH - Hit a H-U-G-E pothole and got a bulge in the sidewall. I bought 4 used tires from someone on here. I think mine are Goodyear Eagles but I'd have to make sure. If it helps you can buy one from me for what I paid for it. I know MOP have a kickass tire machine, but I don't know what rubber they can get. I just threw my 16s on and haven't got around to changing the tires on my 17 rims yet. Let me know.

Jared, I erred and bought 2 Goodyear Eagles from MOP early this year. Nothing against MOP. Those tires are $$$$$$$$$$$$, changing them is a bit$h, and mine are very noisy and wear unevenly. Check with Gary and see what he has first. One of the techs had some tires for sale, unused, but noone had ever heard of the brand.

When quickly calling Dianne at MOP to go over loan rates, she wouldn't let me off the phone without first pushing the tire warrenty (and lojack! I had to make sure I didn't mistakenly dial HC!). Something like $500 covers the original tires as well as rims. I declined, explaining I plan to wear down the included tires as soon as possible.

Got me mad when I found out the other day that the Yokohama AVS dB S2 tires I would really like are not available in any 16" size compatible with the mini! Perhaps Ecstas then, when the time comes.

Okay. Gary said they have no tires at all...only new ones. A 17" Dunlop runflat like I have is $290...$334 installed. Please...I can get 4 new Yoko's from TireRack which is what I might do.

I think I'm going to have MINI take it to the place that patched my runflat last time, and if they can't do it..it's close enough to home that I can drive it. In the meantime I can drive another car. I don't know, I will call Roadside soon and find out.

Gav, how much? I don't think i'd want to have a different kind of tire on there though.

Blue Cooper Magic Roundabout

Ian and gav,

I saw your earlier references to ZEBEEDEE and did you forget about Florence? BOIIIIINNNNNNGGGGGG!!!

Spent many a day before the 6pm news watching magic roundabout.

Have you ever heard of Jasper Carrot? He does a hillarious comedic look at Magic Round a bout.

I was also looking for some info on track events. Is this something someone should do if they have no prior track experience? I would love to learn how to drive the MINI more aggressivly but not sure what I should be looking into. Any info would be appreciated,

Thanks,
Joanne

p.s. ONE week till we drive to Maine!!!!!!

Joanne,
yes I know Jasper Carrott. I don't think we can discuss much of his version of Magic Roundabout in public

Have you read about the BMW local chapter advanced driving skill school:
http://www.gbmini.net/mtblog/archive/000391.shtml
It is a pre-requisite for them before you go on track, and I found it very useful to experiment with handling.
I put up a couple of videos after the event too:
http://www.gbmini.net/mtblog/archive/000392.shtml

If you want to know about track days, there are some Lime Rock posts in the NE forum - do a quick search.

Well, MINI Roadside will only take me to a dealer. I didn't get into Boston or Peabody but it does no good to have my car sitting in Peabody. I'll use my parents AAA and get it towed to the tire place that patched one of my tires before. Although the last time it was a slow leak, nothing like having it blow out from hitting a little pothole on 93 but whatever...I'll give it a shot. If it's unpatchable, can I put 2 different runflats on the front/back? Like two of Gav's Goodyears up front and two of my Dunlops on the back? Actually...that's pretty lame and rinkydink. I might just break down and get 4 Yokos and AAA. Lame.

Joanne,
There's a women only ADSS day coming up - I'm trying to persuade my wife to go and I know at least one other friend who says she's going. The event is Aug 14th and the registration opens on June 25th. They are well worth it - see Ian's report.

Gav, how much for two of your Goodyears?

As Ian mentioned, the BMWSCCA offers their training, which I may soon take.

But you don't need anything that formal. Head out to pretty much any autocross (SOLO II) race. Everyone is very welcoming, it's just driving your car around cones so very easy and nothing to be scared of. Of course its best to go with a friend. Once I get my mini and break it in, I'll be going to a bunch so keep an eye out and you might want to attend one. It's great fun on a nice weekend day and usually about $25, no memberships required (with the exception of the bmwscca mentioned above).

That goes for the rest of you too...

I thought you decided that was a lame solution and were going for 4 new ones..?
I'll have to look back at what I paid the guy for the set and let you know when I get home later.

Thanks Ian

I will check out joining bmwcna boston chapter as my husband suggested months ago. I think one of these events would teach me much and improve my confidence in the MINI. I love driving with Eben because he pushes the MINI to the max around many fun corners. I hope to do the same someday. I would love to see many of the video's posted here in the forums but when I click on them my computer laughs then coughs and sputters!!

Thanks again,

Joanne

p.s. Ian I was sorry to read that you lost your job at MOP, you haven't been there in a week, correct?

Okay. I got my car flatbedded (after a desperate call to The Cod) and it's at the tire place that patched my last one. They had time to do it but only the shop foreman does runflats. They will check it out and call me tomorrow.

I have a headache.

We have a sure fire cure for that type of head ache but you are a non-drinker so I can't recommend it.
Did you check w/ MOP about the flat bed vs. tow?
