Confectioner's sugar, with literally just a touch of milk. Depending on the cookie, I add different flavorings. For chocolate, I'll add some cocoa powder, for the anginettes I'll add a drizzle of the anise extract. You can add vanilla or another extract, too. You want it to be thick but spreadable, but not runny. If the frosting moves once you apply it (i.e. starts running down the size of the cookie), it's too thin and you need to add more sugar. I'll also add a touch of flour to thicken it, too. Give it a whirl

I would be drummed-out of the Canine Corps if I didn't correct the reference. It is Bernese (as in Bern, Switzerland) not Burmese Mountain Dog. I doubt if a Bernie would do well in the Burmese climate. Although, you may find a rabid rangoon in Burma.

Sorry guys, back to frosting and cats again! Yes, Sheenabea, my mother used a little bit of milk with powder sugar to make the frosting. I remember adding food color to it--I loved making PINK and GREEN frosting! NoNo, your cat is fine--cats do get some reaction to vaccinations for a little while.

My grandmother used confectioner's sugar, butter, and whole milk. No recipe, just enough of each until the consistency was right...
Edit, also a little vanilla flavoring never hurt, either.

In England important cakes (like our wedding cake) are made with Royal Icing, which goes hard ...
Wilton: Recipe Box: Royal Icing

Never heard of putting milk in, before!

I just got back from seeing "The Holiday" with Kate Winslet, Cameron Diaz, Jack Black, etc... In England, the main character had a Chili Red/white top MCS (1st gen)!

For a moment there,Theo, I thought you had corrected this thread's course. Jibe ho! I shouted mentally as you correctly corrected the canine nomenclature. And ol' Richard helped out too. But then.....The Ladies Home Journal reappeared.
Someone PM me when talk of cat poop and pfepfernussen (I know..too lazy to look it up) is over.

Thank goodness. I was afraid it said "spermicidal" and that raised just too many questions.

Germany. In Wiesbaden, now. Beautiful day out; mid-40s or so, I'd say. Guess this global-warming thing isn't confined to New England. It's fun seeing all the different cars. Only a few MINIs, but quite a few Opels, smaller v-dubs and Mercs, and funky-named things like Belingos. Not a single pick-em-up truck, just these industrial MB trucks.

The vet usually gives quite a few things to watch for, but they'd never fault you for calling to double-check.

I was doing a bit of both. People watching only goes so far; people annoy me so, at times, that I just try to drown them out. Y'all are an exception, of course.
