Horses!?...I'll bet Secco and Baker put out a few tons of bodily emissions each year that the environmentalists can't even begin to imagine!

Hmm, could lead to 'controlled emissions' for all of us.

In other New Jersey politics, I have to say kudos to the Rutgers Womens' Basketball team for handling the whole Imus incident with class.

That's the first time I've heard "Imus" and "class" in the same sentence together. I've never listened to him; he just seemed like some old kook with a radio show. Now he seems like an old kook without a radio show. What confuses me is that everyone says he's made these kinds of remarks all through his 30 years on the air. Was it just a slow news day that made him pop up on Sharpton and Jackson's radar?

Maybe it was just the bad timing of dissing basketball in March. I never understood the draw of talk radio myself, but I'm not sure Imus was the worst of them. I guess there's a whole bunch of 'em out there more outrageous than that, but I think I'll stay uninformed on that subject for now. I think basketball is much more important.

I dunno, based on the past few years isn't it deceptive advertising to use a photo like this?

Your post about the Gov. incident reflects an attempt to bash on the system and I view it as another semi-covert attempt at pointing out what a bunch of ass holes -in your opinion- they and the motor vehicle laws are. I say if you can dish it out-however openly or subliminally- you should be able to take it and have a constructive dialog to defend your views.

Steve, not to beat a dead horse , but let me recap for you what I wrote, just like I did for Kathleen.

I said two things:
1. The investigating police will find a fellow police officer who was driving not responsible - no matter what happened
2. The Governor was supposed to wear his seatbelt.

The "timbre of an open challenge" is in your eyes. Furhtermore Kathleen's response: "Wow, a lot of assumptions here. First of all, from what you're saying it sounds as if you are arguing for primary enforcement..." is

1. wrong
2. personal

and you should be scolding her not having "a constructive dialog." Shame on you, my friend...

Hey, Ivan, if you're going to make it personal, spell my name right. And yes, I believe in primary enforcement. Even for the Governor.

From the reports of the accident, there were 3 vehicles involved, and other witnesses besides the officer who was driving. Ivan, you may believe that a police officer can do no right, and you may want to post about it often, but please don't be surprised if you find that some of us don't agree with you, and don't enjoy the tone of your attacks.

That's more like it!

Johnny Weatherguy is forecasting 9" of snow tomorrow afternoon/night. I hope he's as wrong about this one as he was about the last one. I'm past sick of this stuff. People around here are starting to get "delayed seasonal affective disorder", if there is such a thing. We know winter in Vermont is bad. We're prepared for that, we can deal with that. But for the love of all that is right and decent, don't take spring away from us. That's just mean-spirited. Even if half our "spring" is actually "mud season", it would still be better than this. So lot of people who cheerfully slogged thru winter are now starting to get seriously bummed out because it's supposed to be spring now, and winter won't go away. The "normal" high for tomorrow is 55°. Instead it's supposed to be in the 30s and snowing to beat the band. Ugh. Make is stop!

I think I'd take snow over the torrential downpours we've been getting. Snow is pretty. Binding rain is annoying.

Binding rain? Could that be a solution to the emissions problem?

Ricardo,
I'm surprised at you! If I could be bothered (not!) I'd search back to last year when you were complaining that you hadn't had enough cold/snow/etc and it was too warm ... you said something about having chosen Northern Vermont because you wanted that sort of weather. Well, now you've got it

Actually one of the most surprising things for Margaret & I when we came over from UK was the lack of spring ... typically it seemed cold, cold, cold then suddenly HOT. Recent years admittedly there's been some attempt at winter, but spring is still a bit of a non-event compared with what I remember in England (though I suppose that could have changed in the last few years too, according to "The Weather With Al (Gore)"
