| That's why Valentine is so great... he's an engineering radar nerd and still engineers his products the best he can. That may mean it's not the best for the average consumer, but for engineering brains, they're great. Many people report calling in with technical questions and being transferred to Mike himself. There's not many companies like that anymore. (so it looks like Escort copied that product as well...) If you give up getting it to work, I'd be happy to look at it. As for the DSC unit in the car, I'm sure it could be easily monitored. But with products already out there for $99, there really isn't a need. |

| The advantage is that MINI's accelerometers are located extremely close to the cg. The windshield-mount $99 units are nowhere near the cg. I've got one and it was ok, but didn't have the display features I really wanted and seemed designed for the drag racer rather than the auto-crosser of track racer. At least the g.analyst can be placed closer to the cg and the remote head can show true friction circle data. Now, a remote head tapped into the MINI accelerometers...that would be interesting. | I called Valentine Research, Inc. this morning to find out what can be done to repair my g.analyst unit. I was told that I should send the whole thing in to them with a $45 charge. Part of the conversation: Valentine: Just safely package the whole unit up and send it insured to our Alliance Road address. Theo: Do I need an RMA number? Valentine: No, we have all your registration information online with your serial numbers. Just send us the package and the fee with a description of the problem. Theo: And you will give me a an actual repair cost quote after the $45 diagnostic charge? Valentine: No, sir. The $45 covers any repairs or replacements that are needed to make it a working unit again. Theo: (incredulous) Really? Valentine: Uhh, yes sir. You're covered with the $45. Theo: (sobbing) Oh, thank you, thank you , thank you! Now THIS is Customer Service! | I thought about becoming a cartographer for the US Geological Survey. Unfortunately, I never followed up my dream... I have my own sway-o-meter in the Mini! It's the evil eye hanging from my rear view mirror. So far, pretty good. |
