Since this thread seems to be a little light on traffic these days, I figure I'll post some on-topic stuff in the off-topic thread. The track wheels arrived for the brown MINI today... too bad they're not the size I ordered! I ordered (and paid for) 15x7.5 and they sent 15x7. I'm waiting for a call back that they can send the right ones out from California 3-day shipping instead of ground. If not, I'm hosed because they probably won't get here in time for my next / first track event. The person I talked with on the phone earlier today said she had to check with her boss to see if they could do 3-day. She did call me back to ask if I would like to purchase the wrong wheels they have shipped to me at a discount, in addition to having purchased the right wheels which haven't arrived yet.... as if.

I guess mistakes happen, but it's annoying if they don't follow up with some good response. So I hope they do good for you

Can someone tell me about what winter driving in a mini cooper is like in New England? I'm in central New Hampshire and live "on a big hill" and for those of you who ski, you know what kind of snow we can get! Please inform...to buy or not to buy? Do the winter features REALLY work here?

You'll almost certainly want good winter snow tires - the original winter runflats are no use at all; I see Blizzak offers runflat snows now but don't know if they're any good. There's a lot of good non-runflat choices ...

I take my MINI to the slopes in NH and VT frequently. I have winter tires (Blizzak LM22) and a roof rack. I've never had a problem. This past winter I took a wrong turn and went over a mountain road to get to Sugarbush -- Ice, deep ruts, snow -- as long as I was careful to avoid falling into a rut, I was fine. My brother followed in his Suburban. I also do a fair amount of winter highway driving -- no problem there, either, except maybe dodging spinning SUVs. ![]()
