Ian, it's been proven many times that feature for feature, hardware for hardware, it al washes in the end.

Seen the site of one of the worlds 5 fastest supercomputing clusters built at roughly 20% or the cost of others?

Blacksburg, VA — Dr. Srinidhi Varadarajan knew that he wanted to build a world-class supercomputer. Also, he wanted to solidify the position of Virginia Tech’s world-class computer science program. But with only a fraction of most supercomputing budgets to spend, it seemed like a hopeless dream. He crunched numbers, solicited every likely vendor, examined and ultimately discarded all possible options using other platforms and chips. Then in June of 2003, news of Apple’s Power Mac G5 hit the airwaves. At last, Varadarajan realized, he’d have as much 64-bit processing as he needed to power his dream, without overtaxing his budget.

Soon after the announcement, Varadarajan took delivery of his very first PowerBook laptop running Mac OS X. Within days, he placed an order for the 1100 dual processor, 2.0 GHz Power Mac G5 computers that now drive Virginia Tech’s new supercomputer. Smart choice: In November of 2003 the giant system — named System X — became the third fastest supercomputer in the world.

Maybe the Mac is faster now ... when I was tempted two years ago, it was much slower than my PC at calling up the browser, loading up Adobe Premiere or iDVD, etc. I was not impressed by the bang-for-buck. I *was* impressed by the LCD though

I stopped there after picking up my car...it seemed OK, they gave you a lot for the price, neat place inside. I certainly wasn't expecting exceptional landfood in boston, but it was decent. Course I really wanted nothing to do with that food, I just wanted to get back and drive my MINI home for the first time! As a result it was also my first time eating in a steak place where I did not finish my meal as a result for the appetite for driving!

Agreed.
Hilltop used to be one of the best in the area, but over the past couple of years it has gone down hill hard. Haven't found a good replacement but the meat market out back is still good. I hit it once in a while with the parents before a Family BBQ.

I also agree yes the Mini can squash an appetite quickly when you want to drive...

BTW, old scaly beached one, Maureen says to name the pup ONSLOW after the BBC character on 'Keeping Up Appearances'. I agree with her choice 'cause it also correctly labels your wit speed.

Off to Jury Duty today, I hope it's not some case where they sequester the
jury for ten weeks. I hope it's a high profile celebrity case so I get paid
to be on Larry King and the Today Show. I can then write a book and get
those mods done.

Don't worry Steve. I'll try to sway the jury in your favor. Were it not for this confounded civic duty I would have been on the ferry from Woods Hole and riding in Stryker. Oh the price we pay for freedom.

My oh my. Think about what the poor defendant has done to have to be judged my Max, no doubt considered one of his peers.

I would, but I obviously don't know 20 people...
Maybe I should go and spread some random rep in another forum - it's always the same people here!

Chris,
Far as I know ... I expect Gavin to call my "real" office when he gets to MOP, so I can re-locate to my "other" office

Yep, all systems go. I'll be heading up there in an hour or so, maybe a bit more.
Even if Jane's car is still being worked on, we'll have enough transport to get out to lunch. What time do you think you'll be there Chris..? Shall we aim for a noon gathering..?
