I know it's all relative and I certainly don't envy you folks who were forced off the grid during the last couple weeks, but when the power went out here last night, two things happened. We relaxed. Oh sure the winds were whipping up a storm, but we were safe and warm in our house. No lights but for lanterns. Obviously, no TV, no internet, no radio--you get it--no noise except us talking to each other. That was really nice. Of course, we could choose to do this anytime, but thus far we hadn't. I'm thinking we might take a night a week and give it a try.

The other thing that happened was that I was awed by what you all went through. Even though today and tonight are cold, I knew the forecast was for much warmer temps (60s) by the weekend. I figured we'd get by as long as we had to. But it really made me think about what you New Englanders endured for a couple weeks.

NEW MINI FEATURE DISCOVERED

While driving my son back to Logan my wife choose to sacrifice her own comfort for that of her taller son and sat in the back seat of the MINI. To be clear, not all of you may have this important feature - Nigel the Silver is an '02 without sport seats, but this may be considered sport in some circles. My wife reports to me that after a quick zig then a zag her brassiere became unhooked! She also reports that this is the second time this has happened in the MINI. It may have happened in other cars before we were married and always while parked, but she will not discuss that with me...

Considering how cramped the backseat of the MINI is you would think marketing would make something of this feature...

So, MINI points out that they are compliant with the LATCH system for child restraints. They do not, however, mention the UN-LATCH system to which you refer. And you say it is located in the back seat, eh?

I am passing this on to you because it definitely worked for me, and
we all could probably use more calm in our lives-especially during the
stress that comes with the holidays!

Some doctor on the TV this morning said that the way to achieve
"inner peace" is to finish all the things you have started. So I
looked around my house to see things I'd started and hadn't finished
and, before leaving the house this morning, I finished off a bottle of
Merlot, a bottle of shhhardonay, a bodle of Baileys, abutle of vocka,
a pockage of Pringlies, tha mainder of a botl Prozic and
Valumscriptins, the res of the Chesescke an a box a c hocolets. Yu haf
no idr who good I fel.

Happy New Year everyone! I'm stuck at work, but not really doing that much work. I'm with Ivan (on the finishing things front, not the drinking). My year of cutting back is paying dividends as I've paid off a credit card, a personal loan, and one of my student loans. A few more months to pay off the last CC and I might be able to start saving money again!
