| Very glad to hear about your successful recovery, Eliot! I guess that's a big weight lifted off your...er...shoulders, eh what? What better place to R&R than Negril! How was Couples? | Been gone for a few days and it looks like there's been a meeting of the natives. Much stuff going on, eh? Cod, (forgive me being so familiar but all your cohorts have more or less run you though the the coals on here so I feel like I kinda sorta know you), I've been doing battle with the mice in the garage. Little *******s find their way in even though it's pretty tightly sealed (but obviously not entirely). So far, no real damage to the MINI, but I've got multiple traps set. Have caught several but there must be more to go. Good luck with your attempts at annihilation. I just put the summer tires back on today. Last one was a little hinkey. I didn't like the way the lug bolts felt going in so I have to check 'em again tormorrow before I torque 'em down. (I was running out of daylight and the lighting in the garage isn't much better.) I can't for the life of me remember what I did with my anti-seize paste when I put the snow tires on last year, but I'd like to put a little sploosh on the bolts. Maybe it will come to me in my sleep. Ted the terrier is showing signs of her Cushings disease settling in in a new way. She's been on medication for about a year and done really well with it--had pretty high quality of life. I think she still does, but she's really had some changes this week (when, of course, her vet is out of town). Not eating with her usual vim & vigor, considerably less stamina, at least some of this week. She still has quality of life, but we think we're probably headed for a new chapter. Sad when those pets have their troubles. She's been a great dog, and in the weirdest of ways, was much of the inspiration for the MINI. I've still got hopes she'll make it to MOT, but realistically, I don't know... minirandolph / Eliot, congratulations to you! Talk about a new lease on life. Good for you! I don't know what you did in your previous life, but I'm pretty sure you can rest assured that every time you pass a cone to a customer, you're doing something that makes someone happy. Can't do any better'n that! And with that, I'll sign off for tonight. Hasta la vista babies... |

Great news, Eliot! Here's hoping for a summer with lots of ice cream customers! The driving season has just started in western NY. We'll be at Watkins Glen next weekend, and I'm sure we'll find a few things to do before heading to MOT. I've just come back from Chicago/Milwaukee/Madison WI, meeting up with people I know or knew of through the MINIUSA OL, including, HWS, (83, 300,000 miles on his 2002 Silk Green Cooper). It was a fun weekend, and hopefully a few of those folks will make it to MOT. This is what I do in my spare time- Local - 13WHAM.com I bring patients from other hospitals to our university hospital. I've been working with the stroke team over the past year to improve the speed with which stroke patients are cared for. I've been putting the 'Brain Attack' group page system together, and though my mental lapses may make people think of me when they hear 'Brain Attack', I'm happy to be part of this. This is an extremely dedicated and personable group of people. ![]()

Wow, signs of life, and it's not just BS! Things are pretty good here in Nashua. I just celebrated 33 years of making the world just a little weirder, and Sarah and I are starting to look at houses near Somerville; not much fitting our criteria just yet. Indy and Spencer are healthy and vigorous, and currently growling at each other from their respective couches. Something about a bone on the floor... Scrat (my MINI, for the uninitiated) is looking a little grungy at the moment but is wearing his summer sneakers, and I blew about 50,000 miles (across two cars) of boogers out of the Alta foam air filter the other night. I hit 42k miles on my way home last night, which has me thinking about an extended warranty. I'm only about half-way through my payments and I'd like to at least have some insurance until the end of my loan. I have to get MoP to track down a grunchy clutch pedal and surge under moderate acceleration before the rest of my factory warranty is up; the trick will be to effectively deflect their scrutiny of the pulley and intake... I might have to pay a visit to the greasy one in Woosta for some unbiased diagnosis (which could point to a screwy nut behind the wheel; it's happened before). I have too damn many other projects going. I'm trying to build a “simple” sprinkler timer with a microcontroller and a couple of relays, and it's turned into a project of doom; currently it works fine until I hook up the 24VAC for the sprinkler solenoids and then it starts acting like a wonky Windows computer, randomly rebooting. I have successfully set up temperature sensors and furnace zone activity monitors throughout the (rented) house so I can keep an eye on how often the furnace is running, which I'll extend to a smarter thermostat this winter, probably. I have a camera intervalometer I need to finish up. The high-speed flash trigger is working well, but currently being ignored while I work on other things. Sarah got me a kite for my birthday, and I want to get into Kite Aerial Photography (KAP), but that's going to require building or buying some more gadgets for controlling the camera. If only I didn't need sleep... I think it's time for a MINI run.

Filtering on the uP supply, freewheel diodes on any inductive loads, after that pull out a 'scope! In England at least, the phrase "go fly a kite" is not a term of endearment; I'd worry about your relationship

We get lizards in the garage when GPMINI lives in Florida. Not so much trouble - but they squish easily ![]() Sad ![]() Went through similar with our cat recently; she had been very ill over new years, but recovered to the point of eating some food (not much) and wandering the house to look for warm / sunny spots. Then suddenly she just quit eating and moving; we couldn't bear to watch her die
