Well one more thing to the list. My passenger side headlamp washer isn't spraying. I am probably hanging around in the morning until it's done if anyone wants to come visit.

MOP have wireless access? They should.

They probably have - the car to workshop programming is done via a wireless Ethernet link
Whether you can get onto it is another matter though...

What do they do again for cold start/rough idle? Just make it so the ECU has to learn your car again, or will they want to flash to v38? I haven't read about any stumble or anything with v38 so maybe I should have them do that if it's an option.

I don't have the stumble now either but...well I don't know.

I think also that Keith has a wireless point in his upstairs office - or had; maybe he is not up there any more with them moving people around so often!

Resetting the ECU only cured GBMINIs cold start for a few days ... if you get V38 then let me know after a week or two whether it improved things or not - thanks.

Thought that was your office upstairs, Ian. Keith was tucked away near the CDs on Wdnesday. Hrach gone, had to buy my own breakfast, MH drove away in wife's MB wagon, Keith in at 11...just ol' Gary to harass.

Rubbing sound in steering was not my imagination. Good luck, Jared. Ask them how often the headlight washers are supposed to activate. Then post answer here. Don't nobody say nuthin' until pezboy returns with the answer.

Last time I was there, there was an open wireless network available, but it didn't go anywhere... couldn't get to mini2 or anyplace else.

Secco, what are you going on about? Once you turn the lights on, it will go the first time you want to spray the windshield...every 3rd time after that. It comes out, just doesn't spray.

snid, ahh...that sucks. Maybe if I am stuck there all day they can hook me up. I will try!

They're wireless up there, but they've got it locked down somehow. Did my best to try to hack in some time ago, no luck. Next time I'm there for more than a short spell I'll try again.

As Gavin say, they have wireless to connect the car to the computer for diagnostics - if you pick that up you will probably never get "out there" since it is probably just an internal LAN for the diagnostic kit ...

Was that building built just for the dealership? Why run wires to all the desks and rooms upstairs and such if you are gonna have wireless for other stuff?

Or it could be that they're not using VPN or similar set ups. At work, we treat all of the wireless connections as external logins that need VPN keys. You can pick up our wireless and use it to look at the internet, but not our network without a key code. Maybe they don't have that level of complexity, so they just block access to the wireless signal - you can see the network but it won't let you connect at all, even to go 'outside'.

Speed. Reliability. Security.

And it keeps the likes of you out..!

Seriously, if you're transferring files internally over the intranet, the speeds can go up to 100bps. If you're going out to the internet, you'll still be limited by the bandwidth of the connection, but for businesses, the network is usually all about internal file transfer.

So you are saying I should bring a hub or just unplug someone's comp?

To my knowledge the building has a wireless setup, but again, it is "locked down" so that keys (software settings) are needed to attach.

All of the desktops in the showroom are indeed connected to the building network by wireless, and they have full access to external resources (ie internet, outside email accounts etc).

Locking it down keeps the freloaders off, and less chance of a knowledgable cracker getting in and disrupting the normal flow of business. Certainly won't stop them in the long run, just makes it more of a challenge.
