Do you have no fault on glass in VT? If so don't use the cheap ratty ass OEM pos MINI glass. Go with PPG.

Why haven't you signed up for MOT yet? Your Mother has.

The new mini glass has been fine they changed the spec last summer I understand...

A bloke walked into the local newspaper office looking a bit sad. "My wife has just died and I wanted to put an announcement in the paper, how much does it cost ?"* "It`s a pound a word" replied the girl behind the desk. The old boy fumbled in his pocket and pulled out six quid, "it`s all I`ve got, can I borrow your pen please ?" He walked away to a counter and came back with his £6 and a scribbled note. Wife died Wednesday night in sleep.* Feeling sorry for him the girl went away to ask her manager if she could allow him 5 words for a pound. Feeling compassionate the manager agreed. All of a sudden the old chap seemed to perk up a bit and went away to scribble again returning a few minutes later with a new note :* Wife died Wednesday night in sleep. Metro 1.3L hatchback for sale, full service history, lovely paintwork, alloy wheels, stereo, over-mats, seat covers, electric front windows and recent oil change. £1,250 ono !

Nope. They'll repair for free (if it can be repaired, ie. a simple crack under 6" etc.), but replacement is subject to the big ugly deductible (plus my insurer perfers to replace with Safelite glass, not PPG). Thus the preferred route is to whine to MINI for a free one. Last one made it 2.5 years, we'll see how long #2 lasts. Supposedly they've made some design changes, who knows.

Umm, I'm trying to build dramatic tension? I'm indecisive on t-shirt size? I'm out of postage? I want to be last? I'm waiting to hear if the bbq is kosher (even though I'm not)? I'm sure there's some real reason, it couldn't simply be a matter of slackertude...

Didn't PPG make a pigs ear of your replacement installation an didn't that glass crack too..? I thought you'd ended up with the new 'thicker' factory glass. Am I thinking of somone else..???

@ Windshadow's joke..!! Did you cut and paste that from somewhere..? How do you get the UK Pound symbol on a US keyboard..? (Maybe I should ask that in the geek thread)

)

It was Giant Glass (the installer) who made mince meat of the job two times. PPG is the manufacturer. I finally had MOP install PPG glass that Giant Glass delivered to MOP.

Giant Glass completely and thoroughly suck.

Ah, see I knew there was something...! And what about your water leak..? Did you track that down before Stryker 'went away'..? Maybe even MOP need a couple of tries to get a screen in.

If anyone is interested here's what's been making my hair grey the last few weeks:

I don't know if parking that thread in the dungeons for a while broke any subscriptions you may have had.

Yup saw it on Honest John's Web Forum... the car dealer from the Telegraph's motoring section
just select the UK keyboard in the OS-X System Preferences/ international/input menu make the US and UK valid and you will get a little flag icon in the main menu bar so you can quickly swap back and forth I tend to leave it in UK and then use option shift 3 for the # and shift 3 is £
or select the Character pallet (the little gear icon at the bottom of the font-names)from font select in any application like text edit I find the UK keyboard map easyer fo me as I deal in UK stuff so much

Ian, sooner or later you'll come over to the bright side...........

How easy is it for you to switch keyboard mappings? (not trying to cause trouble here...just wondering).

Ian, you're obviously using the wrong kind of computer. Go and buy a Mac mini and run it alongside your PC with a KVM switch (get more than 256K RAM though!)
RL, thanks for the tip. Didn't know about the flag switching trick. I know you can get to it through the pallette, but it always seems to take too much effort. Aren't @ and " reversed on a UK keyboard though too...?

Yeah, without switching anything...option-3 does £.
