I'm 23-9 after the first round and happy to have lost one to UVM. I just luvs anyone who beats Syracuse. Heck, if they can beat Michigan State, they'll get Duke.

Atta boy, Rico. We go for teams named after cats.

Scary...

A year ago the Herald quoted me in an article on unmarked police cars as saying: "If the object were to slow people down, they would be using marked cars with their lights flashing all day.''

I just found this link to a forum used by Mass cops. Scary to read how men with guns and with power think, when they don't know anyone else is listening

We need to be very careful that you do not tar all with the same brush... I have known many fine officers who have been absolute paragons of honesty even writing members of their own family when pulled over for a traffic stop and who have run departments with out a hint of scandal. Any armed service is bound to attract some with power trip problems... the work of departmental reform is to either retrain them or move them out... but in many cases civil service rules make it very hard for internal affairs to do the job they would like too...
I just read that thread... they do not seem to like you very much but some one posted your links so someone ther is on your sid enough to do that for you... that said if I was senior to some of those posters they would be in for it big time... that kind of attitude has no place in police work today... and no I am not a cop I was Summer special in my college years on Nantucket (They provided you with a billy club and a uniform and a week of on the job training in my day.... (a LOT more now) and we did the parking enforcment and the crowd controll at chucking out time around the bars...) but I have known many including the resident state troupers out there... and yes I can recall some very bad eggs esp that were sent to increase the state police from the winter total of 1 or 2 to the 5 or 6 they have out ther in the summer now... but not all are bad and not all spend their life looking to book as many 6mph over the limit speeders as they can.

Hope you never get pulled over for speeding or other violations. Sounds like they probably have your picture hanging on their dashboards.

First, I never said cops are bad or more specifically that I hated an individual cop. All I said most people would slow down if they saw police lights. Wouldn't you?

And secondly, I'll be willing to debate whether cops are good or bad only after you find on the Internet threatening messages about yourself.

You don't have to agree with my politics and you don't have to speed. But we are all adults, and and a free society the majority of people should be trusted to drive responsibly. After all, we let a jury of average citizens in a trial decide the faith of another human being, and yet the same people are not trusted to drive home responsibly!

Snek, thanks for that link. I don't have time now but it's bookmarked and I will be sure to read through that forum. They certainly don't like you, which gives me all the more reason to read it all. I'm sure they are bound to devulge valuable info in their uncontrolled rants.

I've certainly spotted unmarked intrepids several times. Also watch out for unmarked Impalas--I saw one pull over a random motorist during morning rush hour traffic on rt 2 (consequently causing a half-mi backup of course).

Geez, Ivan, you are loved! But heck, you get threatened here on mini2 all the time...well at least I threaten you but then forget to post the exact plans of your termination. I have, at last count, 14 options. N contributed 2 so far.

Well to be fair to them they are not exactly easy on one of of their own on this thread Yikes where did he get his badge in a box of cracker jacks? I knew how to check safe a pistol with my eyes shut before my dad let me near the range... what an idiot!
http://www.masscops.com/phpBB2/viewt...498&highlight=

And Yes the coments about you in that thread are outrageous... I missed one of the worst ones in my first skim through that thread and if those are serving officers then someone need to know about it and let internal affairs know... have you you passed it on to your contacts in the press? is there an ombudsman in Mass where something like this can be taken? how carfule is that sight to make sure that the people posting are who they say they are? all questions that need to be asked and I expect a good reporter can make a good storiy out of it... Please let us know how it comes out

As to where I stand on the speed issue I argree with you that speed limits should be set by engineers not politicians in most cases... there are mitagating things like hospital zones and eldely crossing zones etc but super highways should roll at their design speeds and that need to be reassessed at regular intervals as a road that was safe at 65 in 1960 is in all likelihood good for 80 or 90 today... but will politicians give up the easy bucks? I doubt it... I Moved to Maine in part to get away from Mass politics... and I am what some might call something of a libertairian in my politics but I just want make it clear that just as everywhere there are god and bad cops like good and bad doctors and the bad ones can make your life hell in bothe cases... the job is to root out the bad ones ... with luck some may have given themselves away in that thread... and their number can be reduced...

Jeez Ivan, I'm not caravanning wioth you anymore. And tell Norine she can ride with us anytime.

"This clown Sever is a boil on the ass of humanity....I would like to see him go up against the CAT team on an "unjust" ticket...those guys would hang him out to dry!"

That's just not fair.

But the one that really irks me is

It's no surprise he's from the "Peoples Republic of Cambridge"!

I insist that you correct that misperception immediately!

That is SO thoughtful Snek
Looks like that site has no controls on who claims to be who anyone can join anc claine to be a police officer and in any case the postings are major violations of the sites telms of service and should get the poster booted and perma baned... the big one seems to be using your name not just your first name which is covered but your whole name... Looks open and shut to me but as to those idiots being cops... well they could be but just as easyly they could be security guards for Walmart.

Whoa, guys, just remember that these neanderthals who post like that have 9mm weapons and wear them 24/7.

So, in an effort to keep the Cambridge boys from storming their local Fort Apache, I humbly offer.......www.tinyurl.com/4duqu
