I've had that tranny for months now. It was a secret project. MINI chose me to test it out.
Here's a pic. before they put the body back on my MINI.

Nope, you gotta be quick to catch me out! HPI racing are the ones to have if you're going to go gas powered. They run on nitrous fuel, so they'd be right up your alley..! I used to have a gas powered RC car, but it wouldn't start reliably and I got fed up with skinning my knuckles trying to start the thing.

Ian,
The opening line of the press release says "Woodcliff Lake, NJ - April 1, 2004", so I still contend that the joke's on you..!

True, true. I say take it up to 130 and if she holds............

Personally, I would have replaced it already.

Really...? You seriously think it's that bad. I suppose the years of engineering training I've had should tell me that...
If the sun had been shining this afternoon, I'd have put the 16" wheels back on, so it's not that I really think it's OK - just that I don't want to get soaked to the skin changing 4 wheels. Ah well, I guess that's why we have three cars!

Had a relative with a Messerschmitt (sp?). Low, streamilined 3 wheeler if I recall correctly. 5 forward gears, turn key off, turn the key on, now 5 reverse. He used it to commute to the RR station in NY and took me for a ride just once. I think I was screaming when we hit 60.

Lawdy, Lawdy, the Cross I bear.

Check the Bruce Weiner Micro Car Museum for info and photos on that little beasty and to see some in person don't miss Micro Mini Car Day July 10th at the Larz Anderson Auto Museum in Brookline. Went last year and had a ball. MINIs are welcome in the show.
