My helmet should be here now, but I haven't picked it up yet. For a ballpark on prices, look here:

http://www.saferacer.com/autrachel.html

And, they sell nomex underwear, just in case that's your kind of thing.

I think pretty much every event will have to opportunity to borrow a helmet. But, that gets annoying having to track down an unused helmet in your size. But for the first couple of times out it makes sense.

The British (or Biritsh if you cannot spell) Invasion thread is here... this is historically (well, for the last two or three years) the big Vermont MINI event.

You gonna buy a HANS device too?

I was forced to borrow a helmet from The Cod in order to ride with an instructor at NHIS. Nothing like sliding into a sweaty Brain Bucket on a hot summer day. I think I'd rather "swap spit" with Secco , than have my DNA co-mingle with Steve's.

I was also going to say have Scott from ThinAir do it. Julian from sublime has been wanting to get a cheap mini for a while and wants Scott to "flame it out." So now you can beat him to the punch. Since you ignored Ian's links, your punishment is to go back to that post and check out the thinair link with all his flame galleries.

As the Boston BMWCCA chief instructor says, $10 head, $10 helmet.

Basically, don't shop for a helmet on price. Shop on fit and comfort. And get a full face one too even in a car. You may think it's over the top, but on the day that you really need a helmet, you'll be glad it's all there and it's a good helmet.

Religion is like a huge dog. If it's yours it's very friendly and comforting, but it scares the heck out of everyone else.

Ever have someone tell you they "wouldn't feel safe" driving in a MINI?

Read on:

Quote:
Full Article: Three Oceano friends die in wreck

"The 1:47 a.m. crash killed Manuel Medina, 18, Gabriel Gonzalez, 20, and Jessica Jacome, 19, who had known each other since preschool. Two other friends, driver Andre M. Quintanar Sr., 19, and Lupe Castillo, whose age was not available, suffered moderate injuries.

All five grew up in the same Oceano neighborhood and attended Arroyo Grande High School together, friends and family said.

Quintanar told authorities he was driving south on Oak Park Boulevard south of Meadowlark Drive when a small animal ran in front of his Honda Accord, said Officer Scott Peterson of the CHP.

Quintanar swerved left across the northbound lane -- right into the path of an oncoming Mini Cooper.

The impact caved in the right side of the Honda, killing Gonzalez, who was seated in the right rear of the car, and Jacome, in the middle. They were not wearing seat belts, authorities said.

Medina, in the front passenger's seat, was wearing a seat belt and suffered major injuries. He was pronounced dead at Arroyo Grande Community Hospital."

"The driver of the Mini Cooper, 22-year-old Jasmine Axelsen of San Luis Obispo, walked away with minor cuts and bruises, Peterson said."

While I may not want to face a dump truck, I feel pretty confident when driving that I will be able to either avoid and/or survive an accident.

Thoughts and prayers to those injured and the families of those whose lives were lost so needlessly.
