"Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe." - Albert Einstein aka Gadget Gav
I find myself at the perfect age. Old enough to know better but still young enough to do it.
I find myself a member of a sportsmans club that at one time I viewed as a gathering of 'Ol FuddieDuddies. Having now been fuddying and duddying myself for so many years I feel right at home.
One of the members is now infirm and unable to drive the rather substantial distance from his home to the meeting place. I once offered to drive to his home, retrieve him and then return after the meeting. I was running a very brisk clip when I saw the familiar flashing lights approach from behind.
I told the officer that my passenger was experiencing difficulty gathering his breath.[Due no doubt to my driving style.] The speed was to be excused as "I was on my way to the hospital" , I offered as an excuse.
"You've missed the exit " the officer answered and offered an escort down the motorway to the proper exit to turn around.
I continued with the flashiing lighted vehicle now leading Maxamini and the confused passenger to the exit. The officer turned right ,expecting me to follow. I turned left and sped up the hill and away to the meeting place. Were I have been pursued I would just continue to act confused and offer copious apologies. No need. No officer ever was seen again.
I should add that before the return trip, I did swing by and exchange vehicles.
The passenger continues now and will for always and ever delight in telling of that adventure as if it were atypical of my behaviour. They know only of Ed. Maxamini is shared only with my many MINI friends. I am not one to profit from experience, nor stand on tradition. Join me.
I must leave now to be briefed (how's that for a segue, GG?).
Hi, just back from the briefing. It went well except they told me that I must wear civvies, so if I am captured, it's the wall. Also learned how to disguise my writing. More later
Just got the scoop on that yellow MINI we've seen rolling around Orleans, MA for the past few years. It belong to no other than the infamous Herb Chambers himself and the commmunity shares Mr. Secco's view of this man. In honor of the Old Man of Stoddard I will mount my surface-to-surface missles on the car for the lighthouse tour and seek him out.
We came to an anchor off Nauset Beach. I sent Mr. Pullings with Dr. Maturin (who returned on board with a creature he called a Cod). A Portuguese captain reported sighting the Yellow MINI a week past presumably shaping course for the Horn. We are exercising the people at great guns in hopes that when we meet her… throwing brisk broadsides will make up the difference between our 28 guns and her 44.
Highland Lake, Winsted CT. Come on up to Cod Land and I'll share more info. You know you want to do it. Okay then it's settled. See ya soon. Let us know where you are staying. Do it now.
