I have foggy recollections (actually very vivid memories) of a New Year's party many years ago - this little itty-bitty piece of plastic - and watching Dr. Strangelove at 2 AM - I've NEVER been so into a movie, it was the best!
Oh, and then there was The Grateful Dead at the Palace Theatre in Waterbury CT - 1973. Don't remember much, but I DO remember telling myself - "This is the best time of your life!"
Mornin' Gav - thanks for letting us reminisce. Now it's a half-day of work and a round of golf this afternoon - that's what aging hippies do!
Hey I "waited" 2 years in a row and got in on cancellations, but I wouldn't say it "pays off" it's not like you're getting anything extra or paying less. It was much nicer this year to book back in the fall and not have to worry about it in the spring.
So that was YOU I kept bumping into... Geesh, you think they could have made that time tunnel just a wee bit bigger.
Who remembers the TV show "Time Tunnel"? No coincidence that it was popular in the height of the '60s. It was an early Irwin "Master of Disaster" Allen creation for the small screen.
We used to call it "Cheese Funnel" as it ranked quite high on the Camp-o-meter. Great goof when viewed in a altered state. Hell, the concentric circles sucked me right in even before the partying began!

Somehow I think Hawking & Wodehouse probably have more in common than Wodehouse & crime stories, though he did do some mystery spoofs. I like Wodehouse mostly because he doesn't take anything seriously. I see enough serious stuff at work, so I don't go for the intense movies or thriller novels, because I get to see way too much of that already. I probably read more biological sciences than physics in my spare time, but really like stuff like the books Oliver Sachs has written, and people like Desmond Morris. Also anything that is silly, like the early Matt Groening, and Lynda Barry.
I don't have much use for the 'literary types' myself, except the real world authors, like Ice & Mr Toes.
I got whacked by a rock this morning. Windshield number 2 coming up. Since this was a rock and not stress related insuance will have to take care of it. Any recommendations?MOP or local glass co.
