I think our buddy Rawk (aka Cooperation) will be at the Montreal GP also- he works hard making Mini shirts for us and hardly ever takes time off, except for that. Would be great if you can link up with him!
I know plenty of things to do in montreal but none of it is centered around racing... Usually any hotel on St. Catherine was good for us. Of course, old montreal is the best part of the city, so we would usually stay in the holiday inn select in chinatown.
Theo,
The downside of deciding to go to Montreal at this late stage is that there will be no hotels available. They fill up as soon as the F1 calendar is annouced (sometimes even before it's official). You may end up staying a long way out of town - even as far as MGB Boy's place in Vermont if things are really bad..!
Having said that, if you do find any deals - let me know..! I have a room booked for the duration, but could change it for a better deal.
I'll check the emails that the GP organizers have been sending me and I'll email you when I get home.
Religion is like a huge dog. If it's yours it's very friendly and comforting, but it scares the heck out of everyone else.
Huh. I made a reply between Ian's post and Steve's, and it's gone. Odd. Pretty redundant anyhow, Gav covered it. Lots of nice places to stay in Montreal, but on GP weekend most of them either have been booked for many many months, or they want a nightly rate slightly higher than your mortgage payment...

Ricardo informs me that the Le Parc de Futon (located conveniently close to the WC in Maison D'Odge) has been booked by a certian high-flying act known as Gastro-Ejectus. Thus, we find ourselves contempating a location on the western shore of Lake Champlain about an hour away from Montreal and a stomach-turning ferry ride from Burlington.
Where to sit at the event? Hairpin...Esses...
Now I've got to try to reschedule stuff without starting a massive, domino-type chain reaction of appointment conflicts!

Ian, love the top photo! Sometimes bad weather makes for great pictures. Speaking of which, I put my panoramas together today. I still have to upload more pictures from Seattle, but I'd better get to bed soon if I want any hope of getting back onto my normal sleeping schedule. Here's the new stuff:
That little speck you see to the right of the last photo is the Johnston Ridge Observatory.
The up side: It's closer to Montréal. Just a straight shot up I87 / autoroute 15.
The down side: It's Plattsburgh.
But if you're planning to spend all your waking time up in Poutineville, go for it, stay in Plattsburgh It's as good a place as any to lay down your head, every town looks the same with your eyes closed. Otherwise, plan to get to know the good people of LCT on the Cumberland Head - Grand Isle run so you can get down to BTV during your non-F1 time...
Inside the hairpin in section 34 is the "best bang for your buck", in terms of quality viewing. That's where The Gavinator and I will be (as well as George from my Monday Night Hockey group and Jason's SCCV stuff. We'll deputise George to carry the Cadbury). Of course section 34 is already sold out, but a couple of the other hairpin sections are still open...
