I was there a whole week and nothing ... no rain, no lightning, only light clouds a couple of mornings ...
Of course, that was when it was raining non-stop up here, so maybe there was no clouds left for down there!

Yeah, they kinda had a clearinghouse sale for a while there. Ovechkin IS really impressive!
I think that with the new salary cap, once the existing salaries expire, we're going to see a lot of people moving around, and different teams doing well from year to year. That being said, I also thing that the Detroit Tigers will win the world series in the next three years. My theory, Mr Illich, the owner of the Redwings, also owns the Tigers. Now that there's a salary cap in hockey, he has more money to spend in baseball.
You got lucky! The times I've been there, it was like clockwork, mid-morning every morning they had a big ol' thunderstorm, then the sun would come out and it was yet another hazy hot humid day. Go figure.

I'm just amazed they managed to get Olie to stay. He had a very good year for a very bad team this season, he could have had his pick of several openings. After the way Grahame flamed out this season, Tampa will definitely be in the market (I'm hoping the Bruins can unload Raycroft on them and get something good in return), Ottawa is probably going to be looking for someone to replace Hasek, Toronto needs to replace an utterly ineffective Belfour, Vancouver's net is a mess, there are even rumblings that Dallas is getting sick of Turco being awesome during the regular season then folding like a card table come playoff time. Tampa, Ottawa, Dallas, Vancouver, and maybe even Toronto all have better short-term prospects for success than Washington. The first three all have potential to go very deep with a good goalie. So like I said, I'm surprised Washington was able to keep him. A loyal pro athlete? What's that?

Oooh, hockey related hat trick!

It's surprising to see that you have so many netminders in the "need to get rid of" column, Olie did have a great season. It took them too long to get rid of Witt. He didn't want to be there and made it very apparent. He seemed very slow this season. Haven't caught a Predetors game yet so I'm not sure uf he has improved. But he was a very good stay at home defender that worked well in the old NHL and with the new NHL he sisn't seem that he wanted to adapt. He was my favorite player,
I like the new NHL makes play go faster but I think that it overexposes goalies. And goalies that were good in the Old NHL are maybe not so good in the New due to the quickness of play and the lack of good defenders. The deenders can't just stand in front of the crease and hope for the best. I've seen a lot of deflection goals scored of static defenders skates. More so than in any other year.
I like Sebastian Charpentier. I think he is in the AHL right now but he was backing up Olie for a while. He's young but he's good. I'd like to see him in the NHL.
Ooop, just missed you there. I was only up thanks to the cop sitting outside my window periodically hitting his siren. And the fire truck. And the other cop cars circling the lots here. I was pretty impossible to sleep, and that lack of sleep has caused me to baker the Jim Thorpe run. But I shall make the most of my newfound time by getting started on some calzones. I'll make a test-batch and see what the cost would end up being should I bring some up to MOT. I was thinking of offering plain, spinach, ham, and pepperoni. Yellow-shirters get half off (I'd like to just give you one, but there are too damn many of you!). If I could get an idea of how many people may be interested in buying, that'd be helpful. And of course, I'll have brownies for the Boot Bake Sale.
Hey now...
You lot just aren't trying. I give you 10 days of silence to let you catch up and the second place is still held by The Former CCM (whoever he is )
Just got back from a 10 day trip to the Galapagos Islands. What an amazing place. Still sorting through the hundreds of photos we took, but stay tuned - a web site should be up some time this weekend.
