It's a 1983 Galilee 15, which, sadly, enjoyed a less than 10 year production run of about 400 boats. Designed by Steve DiLeo, it was made to his extremely high standards as a stable, comfortable, easily trailered day sailer. He spared no expense in its manufacture and equipment which, ultimately, led to its demise in a growingly competitive day sailer market. To this day,DiLeo has retained the original moulds and, some years ago, moved on to designing and building experimental aircraft.

The hull and deck are made from substantial layers of FRP. Thus, it is fairly heavy at over 500 lbs, but in expert hands (not mine yet!), it can be quite fast under main and genoa. Not that it could compete with a Flying Dutchman, Bucc 18, or Windmill, you understand. But its roomy cockpit (6'8" beam) make losing so much more comfortable!

Below are a few images. I particularly like the look of the boat in the water with its sharply angled bow and forward-raked transom.

I had a Thistle (wooden) for a few years.probably the closest thing to a MINI that the sailing industry has ever come up with. Sadly , I parted with it as my family wasn't into adrenalin the way I was...............Jock

Nice boat Theo..!
No, I won't be at MOT this year, so if the sun shine bright, you can thank me.

Theo, that is a sweet little boat and it looks like it would be fun to sail.

[LOCAL_LORE] The Ledges is, well, a place on the reservior where one goes to be in the "all together".[/LOCAL_LORE]

If fact, there IS so much more to Theo than you know...which is why you would never find me at the Ledges! The only way I could be cajoled into joining the Naturists is to wear an extremely large sweater draped "just so" about me while wearing a pair of Topsiders.

I grew up piloting a sunfish, and to this day don't like anything bigger. No other boat makes it a water sport, even in 5mph winds. Then there was the day we piled 6 people in one, in 40mph winds. We competed for how many seconds we could keep it right side up.
