MOT2004 ultimate auction: John Cooper Signed Monte Carlo poster! Recently, on my trip to England, I visited the John Cooper Works showroom in southern England. I was very lucky to have the chance to meet Mike Cooper: ![]() (Mike is on the right of this picture!) I talked with Mike about our MINIs On Top event and hoped that he might be interested in donating some small item - a T shirt perhaps ... Well, Mike was interested and headed off in his MINI to the workshop to have a look around: ![]() When he returned, he presented me with a rare poster of classic Mini "33 EJB" titled "Monte Carlo Rally - 1964". The poster can be seen above and here is a closer view: ![]() (click for a big picture) The amazing thing about this poster is that it is hand signed by the artist, Nicholas Watts, the driver of the Mini, Paddy Hopkirk, and John Cooper! ![]() Mike Cooper told me that a similar signed poster had fetched over $1000 at auction last year. This poster is now available to the highest bidder and will be presented at MINIs On Top on June 19, 2004. Proceeds will be split between the MINIsOnTop event, and two children charities - Make A Wish and Whizz Kidz. The poster image size is 28" x 21" approx, printed on a stiff sheet that is 32" x 25". So, if you are interested in this poster and plan to attend MINIsOnTop, make a bid ... The auction will run until one week before MINIsOnTop - it will end at 7pm EST on June 12, 2004. The highest bidder at that point can collect their prize one week later at Mount Washington! Please - sensible bids only. It is recommended to bid at $5 increments. For your information, here are links to Make-A-Wish and Whizz Kidz Last edited by iancull; Mar 12th, 2004 at 04:05 PM.

$125.00 and, Ian, may I suggest bidding increments of, say $10.00, lest some twit from MA ups the ante 47 cents. Or 58 mealworms or whatever fish eat. Brvo, Ian, this is really an accomplishment. You got goolies, mon! Lawdy, Lawdy, the Cross I bear.

I'll see your Ratty Ass $200 and raise you $50. Even if I lose and I shall not. Post the address for Whizz Kids and Make a Wish and they get $25 each. Post also an address for Mr. Cooper and he will get a thank you with some Hand Tied Trout Flies. To be clear for all .. $250 Last edited by MaxaMini; Mar 12th, 2004 at 01:01 AM.

Max, If you do wish to bid, please do so by writing a bid instead of your normal what-does-it-mean typing ![]() Mike Cooper can be found at the John Cooper Works in England. We will update him with the results of our auction when it completes ... Which brings me to answer Dans question. Unless I am over-ridden by Steve, I expect to keep this auction open until one week before MINIsOnTop, ie: June 12 at (say) 7pm EST. Many MINIsOnTop attendees do not yet know that they will be attending, so they all need a chance to discover what we all know already. Of course, if by the time they discover it, our bids are too high for them then so be it. I will measure the picture tomorrow - as Steve says, it did (just) fit unrolled in the back of GBMINI yesterday. (I can't decide whether to bid ... where would I put it in my not-so-huge home ...)

Ian, I agree on the June 12th end date. Many of us will be on the road a few days after that and not readily online. I'm sure the bidding will slow down quickly, bids will come in smaller increments and there will be many dead days on this thread. That is to be expected. I would implore that there be no "sniping". If you are interested and lurking, please step up to the plate and bid. Also, don't bid if you won't be at MINIs On Top. If you don't register for MOT you bids will become void. One more thing: $525- Missing my buddies Dan, Ed, and Diane but glad I have three angel buddies , And on a quest to Right Secco's Wrongs
