That was an interesting experience! Also, a testimony to the importance of handling at speed. When you think about it, the turkey-hen and chicks were lucky...they could have been SUV-meat.

For the YCF next year, I planning a variety of roving wildlife to keep us on our toes! However, the Moose is right out!

Theo,
I must say that the Turkey "incident" was so much easier to take than the Truck "incident"!!! The Mini's gave a bit for the turkeys but the truck was out for mini flesh.. It was a great ride all in all.

Hello folks.. The blood sweat tears and prozac that went into the event was obvious and it was an outstanding job. However with every repeating event there is a need to keep it fresh.. so here are a few things I wanted to add to the mix of suggestions for next year.

The lack of a distance award was a surprise to me too. Guys this should be recognized next year. Instead of all name drawing <keep some in because I wanna win too> there should be some standard catagories.. Oldest MINI owner, Greatest distance traveled IN YOUR MINI, Highest mileage MINI etc. So in other words, I second Blake on this suggestion.

Also, I could spend one more year in Bar Harbor because the time is so short that you are there that you just can not explore all there is to offer.. Then again PEI sounded fun but wouldn't that be a haul? We do not all have NOS ya know

And one last suggestion.. This is getting so large that is there any way a professional panoramic photographer could be secured to capture the cars and owners? The BMW Z Series cars do this every year in South Carolina and it is a sight to see and something you treasure for years! See this link for an example and be sure to make the picture full size so you get the feel for it. BTW this is a really bad patch together of the picture and the hard copy which gets mailed to you is beautiful and flawless. This was one owners attempt to scan it in and it has been altered etc to have it scan in piece by piece etc. http://www.waycoolinc.com/graphics/z3/all5.gif

Craig,
Pester Gavin (GadgetGav) for his version of the panorama - his wide shots from last year were good and now he has even better camera equipment!

Smile Just a chime in.

I love the event that we have. I think that everyone can see the hard work that went into the details of the event. In some sort of standing up for the door prize giveaway, I have been to a couple of MINI events and last years MOT event was the only one I had been to with the dirtiest, cleanist, most driven, highest mileage to event, most are given away in a ticket style. I even went to one wehere we had 20 people and did it ticket style. I think that it is good to reward people for the love they show their MINI, hell I was going for dirtiest (did you see the brakedust?)., but as it was said in the 2004 thread it is just easier and less time consuming to do it with the name calling, plus (or minus whichever way you want to look at it) the passengers of the MINI owners also got to participate not just the MINI drivers/owners.

Just my $.02 or $.03 whichever way we are paying for the per line price. As I stated before last year anyway you want me to help just give me a shout.

Discussed at length. Final conclusion changed - apparently to the pleasure of some (all?)

The prize 'drawings' that I liked most were the 2 (one an auction really) that raised $$$$ for a couple of good causes. There are certainly ways to make almost every type of prize a fund raiser and that will be brought up at some point. With the sole exceptions of the auction and the CD contest, the objective this year was blind luck as well as equality of prizes. You came with nuttin', if you left with something, regardless of size or value, be happy.....and you were.

BTW, Amy, the owner of the Rynborn sends his congrats.
