3 days?

I've got snowshoes, just in case!

What an incredible idea! Can it really be done in 3 - 4 days?

My wife wants to go to San Diego to visit our youngest son during that week, but Hudson Bay in Winter by MINI ~ WOW!

Yes, I'll give this run SERIOUS consideration!

Definitely "Play On!"

Return to Hudson Bay 2010 (and 2011) . . . not

62 hours, round trip from Rockland County. AND, I slept for about 8 hours on the side of the road in Val D'Or!

See the page on my site if you'd like more info, or, contact me!

Some organizational thoughts

I was going to send this out as bcc's to everyone interested, but I realized I have only about half of the email addy's. So, first, I would appreciate everyone who would like to stay in the loop emailing me: HudsonBay@DavidRose.us

Please mention in the subjectline: 'yes, I'm in', 'maybe' or 'you're all nuts and I just want to see how far along you actually make it before getting locked up'

One of the good things about planing a trip that is both 6 months away and only has a few biters so far is that it can be whatever the early hitters want.

My suggestions are leaving bright and early Friday morning. We would need several meeting points as so far we have Jersey, Hudson Valley, eastern NE and hopefully Southern Ontario. I guess the best 'last' hookup would be north of Montreal.

While I realize everyone has different time constraints, personally I'd like to leave to be home Tuesday night. Depending on the size (or not) we can have several different leaving times, if everyone is game. I image Monday night home is an option too.

I have identified the following needs we have so far:

Publicity
Creating excitement and getting people to join
Finding sponsors
Charity fundraising
web site?
liason with other groups?

Logistics
Hotels
Lists of recommended supplies, car stuff, etc where are the coffee stops, oh, and gas stations and food
T Shirts, car badges, decals, etc
Weather reports, research on what to expect at the time, etc

Routes
contacting locals, co-ordinating with activities person
Times
Activities

what to do when in Chisasabi
anything to do at the gold mines?

So far, I have the following people. If I have missed you pleasae, let me know and all of you, please, send me your email addys?

Yeah, Baby!
Lord Winslow Christopher
No No Nanette Annette
DUCTTAPE David

Maybes:
Pipe Scott
UpTick Peter
Dbessmert Daniel
Rfinprc Richard, I think?

Maybe Maybes
HirshMINI
Maxamini

No, but generally nice and interested and doesn't think we're nuts:

We should have a start point and a finish point where we all start from. Not everyone will want to start there or end there but it will make crossing into Canada easier of we are together (or get us stopped and inspected). If we get sponsorship it would be nice to hand them a photo of us all decked out at the start and a nice ragged one of us at the farthest point we can drive. When I get back from Germany next week I am thinking I can get into contact with the towns. That we we can see what they got to offer. Never hurts to let them know we are coming up and when.

I am excited about this. Hey maybe we should put a link in the Canada Thread, and get some of their people to join us north of the boarder.

Hey David, please put me down as a definite Maybe for now. I'll also shoot you an e-mail. BTW, the average January temp in Radisson is -11 F and there was no listing for February.

and -11 is fine. I was thinking it would be cold...

Winslow, can you calculate a point? I guess north of Montreal. However, I am sure people would want to hook up to get there with others.

We would need to coordinate the point with the calendar/clock!

OK, if you two make it this far north, I'll try to get my boss to let me out. I had to pitch a small fit to get the time off for MOT, but I can try.

Snow tires, hmm. I've been avoiding it up til now. Might have to think about it.

David, you can upgrade me to a maybe. (I think that's an upgrade!)

How does one get around in upstate NY, in the winter, without snows?

Practice, man, practice! And a sense of adventure. I like to think of it as yet another winter sport. The Continental all-seasons are pretty good.

1st things first. I LOVE your flag!

Now, I have pitched Friday, Feb 18, of the 3 day Presidents weekend and so far no one has said other wise. So, it's looking like that

Lastly, I did the Dragon. Yeah, yeah, after 20 minutes I had to slow down because I was getting as nauseus (sp) as the passenger got after 5 minutes.

And this is 381 km of great, long, FAST driving, and then the same back!

BTW Catherine, I upgraded you in my mind anyway.

OK, David, if I've attained the 'upgrade of the mind' status, I have to break it to you- my name's really Cathleen.

I'm going to try not to take that phrase and run with it, but everyone else, feel free.
