And, this should be a MINI only event (not that I'm elitist or anything). Hmmm, I'll keep thinking....

Is Hudson Valley to Hudson Bay II - Midwinter Arctic Run (or, Rally) ok?

If we number the HV to HB, we can alternate seasons if we do this going forward. That way, summer/fall, or Winter, it can continue and those not inclined to winter in the Arctic might still get to experience the arctic. (I think it's officially the sub-arctic, but why quibble over a few degrees of lattitude?)

Hudson Valley to Hudson Bay III - Summer Arctic Run
Hudson Valley to Hudson Bay IV - Midwinter Arctic Run etc

Do the NE drivers feel ok about that (Hudson Valley thing)? Where officially does the Hudson Valley start? Winslow, I gather you didn't care for the Hudson Hudson thing altogether. (I know you're out of the country. Hopefully you can catch up on these posts when you return)

....maybe the Hudson Valley part doesn't make sense going forward - especially with the seasonal potential. What if a spring or fall group originated from other areas? The original HV-HB was not an event, per se, but an adventure for a couple of MINIacs. As the idea grows the origination point might become less important, and the destination - or experience - could become the nucleus of the name. Just a thought....

Oh-kay...shucks... probably right

And since everyone else seems to have a life other than MINI2 tonight, looks like you and I are making great headway!

Does the idea of the numbering system work still? We list the destination, and perhaps subchapter it with the time of year for that variable, and then annual numbers? Then, you can come from Georgia, people from San Diego (...) etc and it can still be a continuation of the Hudson Bay destination theme

When I was a kid I LOVED arctic and antarctic stuff. I lobbied HARD to name my first son Shakleton. (My wife had other ideas) Anyway, I used to look at the map and think "Hudson Bay, that's not too far!" When I was finally able to drive there, I was in 7th heaven.

To ME, THAT was the idea behind the first trip. I like incorporating that, or at least arctic, in the 'permanent' name

David, planning a winter driving trip to the upper reaches of civilisation has got to count for something! Those without a life are at the movies, watching - not creating. Just my opinion.

I still think that this is event number one for this run, rally, adventure.

I'm with you as far as Hudson Bay or Arctic are concerned. I especially like arctic... that sounds really cold and distant! Byrd, Shakleton, et al should be admired, but their names are not exactly buzzwords today.

Hudson Run 05 or HVHB '05 gets my vote, short sweet and to the point. Yes off to Germany in a few hours so I will not be on till sometime late next week, unless I find wireless hotspot over there.

Could put Bay in there, but those in the Know will know what we mean.

I'm with minimidtown -- needs to be Hudson BAY.

Other possibilities:
MINIs Up Top: The Road to James Bay
North of the 50th -- (could this be 55th?)
HBB: Hudson Bay or Bust
The Frost Heave Rally
Tour de Taiga
Tour de Tundra
The Big Chill
The MINI Chill
Northeast Passage

MINIs Up Top: The Road to James Bay I like that!
North of the 50th -- (could this be 55th?)
HBB: Hudson Bay or Bust
The Frost Heave Rally this too
Tour de Taiga and this
Tour de Tundra and this
The Big Chill
The MINI Chill

Richard, those are some good choices!

While I LOVE the Hudson Bay in the name, MINIS Up Top is cool too, since MOT is so established. We could be MUT (and all the associated jokes about being the dogs of the clan, with no respect, etc.)

Maybe MUT - Hudson Bay or Bust

MUT really has possibilities. I bet we can get an asterisk in there somewhere. I've been trying to think of a way to squeeze Shackleton in there, but it would be hard to fit on a T shirt.

Or, for that matter, 'Minis Up Tundra', which is funnier if you have a medical background and think of it as 'obtunded', meaning a profound degree of mental impairment, and I'm sure most of us are willing to admit to that!

He went south, and is buried on South Georgia Island.

Maybe Amundsen, Peary (NOT Cook), Byrd, even though he is better known for the South, or others?

And, T-Shirt... we should think in terms of a rally plaque like the MOT, Monte Carlo, etc etc one.

I don't think I'd do a play on MOT. This should have an original name that very simply describes the nature and location of the run. Tag lines can become cumbersome. Winter/Midwinter, Hudson Bay, Arctic seem appropriate to me. MINI in the name is not critical, but if it works, great. This also strikes me as more of an Adventure than a Rally, but it could be a Run. Now it's like Scrabble, put together a simple, yet catchy name.... hmmmm....
