| During MTTS I was mostly roaming, not on TMobile - I could never email pics to GBMINI.net at those times so I'm very suspicious how limited any phones service is when it's not on the home network |
| |||
| Never? I've had fairly decent data connectivity when not on T-Mobile. I'm able to check my mail via IMAP on *some* non-T-Mo networks. What data plan do you have, Ian? |

| TomTom Update My new TomTom maps arrived today and I just finished the installation process on my 700. I 'm hoping that they've fixed the maps. The nearest closest glaring error is off cape so it might be a while to see if that was fixed. There is 6.8 mb of satelite imagery on the update and when zoom is all the way out it goes from Baffin Island, Greenland, Adak Ak, Hawaii, down to Colombia South America and even parts of Africa, Iceland, Great Britain, Spain and Portugal. This won't show up at the normal driving zoom, so its just a novelty. Installation using a mac was fairly painless using the new Home app. everything you know is wrong gnorw si wonk uoy gnihtyreve |

| My T-Mobile plan is just the phone at lowest possible price; I pay per email (when I can send). I still have pics from MTTS in Texas and elsewhere that never sent - the idea was "now" pics so no I didn't retry later in the day/week/whatever. |

| Anyone wonder if that wire going from the phone Jobs demo'd to the podium, supposedly for digital video output was actually a tether to a computer running most of the software..? Maybe the touchscreen was all that was really live in that handset... It's pretty common to have usability mockups that are tethered... ![]() Religion is like a huge dog. | The phone was only modified so that the screen could be displayed on the projectors in the booth during demos - As for apps - it runs OSX so it would seem to me that it would not be to hard to adjust the interface to the phone's display - That is also what is being implied by Apple at the booth. You can't get near the one phone on display in the rotating plexi-display that is immediately blocked by a black box with a guard standing by right at closing so even if you can hang out after closing you can't get near it. “The American Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can bribe the public with the public’s money.” - Alexis de Tocqueville Eric the Red |

| I'm employed by Cambridge Soundworks for two more weeks and I'm showing our radio with a dock for the iPod as well as our new HD radio- now off to dinner on Creative! “The American Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can bribe the public with the public’s money.” - Alexis de Tocqueville Eric the Red |

| Cool! Do you get to keep it at the end of the show? ![]() Funny how quickly Creative came out with the Made For iPod things after 'winning' their suit against Apple for the iPod interface! ![]() Religion is like a huge dog. | So much was waiting in the wings until things settled -too bad it took so long. I may pick up our new Playdock i - Its a pretty cool portable docking speaker for the iPod -I know-Everybody makes one now but this is pretty cool AND it sounds good (and it's cheap - $149) “The American Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can bribe the public with the public’s money.” - Alexis de Tocqueville Eric the Red |

| Is HD radio worth the fuss..? It's not cheap, I suppose because it's new. Is it the same as DAB in the UK? If I had a DAB set would it pick up HD radio over here..? Not sure I want to listen to commercials in better clarity..! ![]() Religion is like a huge dog. If it's yours it's very friendly and comforting, but it scares the heck out of everyone else. |

| Not sure. I would guess not, because I read about DAB gadgets that are super-cheap and included in everything from phones to watches. HD radio stuff is still more than a 2 year satellite subscription. Just so you can listen to regular radio. Sure it will come down, but it should have been cheap to begin with. It's been a few years already. Whatever. I like my radios with big turney knobs anyway. Speaking of which I still need to repair my marantz. |
