The real use for the polarizer is when photographing cars. Forget the 90-degree nonsense. The car body contains many angles. Rotate the filter and you will notice that you you can remove (if you want, include) the reflection of everything else from the car's body. Works great to get an annoying glare off the windshield, door, etc and you can get a good photo of the paint's color. The other big use is the ability to look through the surface of water by dialing out the glare. Great for grabbing fish swimming by, etc.

Thanks all ![]() Brian - yes I did turn the ring but I was probably at 60 degrees, not 90, to the sun.Josh - didn't realize that use of the CP; I'll have to experiment (when the cars clean enough to have reflections on it!)

Absolutely. When I shoot B&W (I'm a filmie, not digital), red + c-pol stacked = really cool black skies... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() And of course there are a million and one other uses for a c-pol (including car photography, I should a bunch of rolls at the British Invasion every year). But wait, isn't there already a photo thread out there? -Ricardo

At work today, someone from support wandered over to dev and asked "does our product work with Vista?" We all kinda went... hmmm... hadn't thought of that. Support said "we've got a guy on the phone who said the browser on his Vista machine crashed when loading our site". Our final answer "we're still testing Vista compatability" - meaning we need to order a Vista license soon.

I just tried to comprehend the last half dozen posts and think I may have had a Luddite petit mal seizure. In my world hammer + nail = comprehension. I promise to never come back in here for fear I'll get lost and not find my way out Missing my buddies Dan, Ed, and Diane but glad I have three angel buddies , And on a quest to Right Secco's Wrongs

I put in 50+ hours at work this week. The new, well, 1 year old job is for a company that does software for car dealerships, and the NADA (National Automobile Dealers Association - the guys who do the used car price guide among other things) has their yearly trade show starting tomorrow in Las Vegas. So we had a bunch of stuff to do to get things ready for the show, and are expecting to be busy after the show ends. Hopefully, the folks that went out to Vegas for the show don't make it sound like too much fun when they get back.
