These posts now coming to you from my new 24in iMac..!
This thing is huge! The shipping weight was listed as nearly 38 lbs..! Apart from the huge, bright, sharp screen, it is so fast compared to my Cube and the old Luxo Jr style iMac. The old iMac with its 800MHz G4 was taking at least 8 hours to transcode a one hour Tivo show with Toast. The new machine with a 2.16GHz Core 2 Duo just did the same task in under an hour..!

Now I have to get used to using Aperture and Final Cut Express HD rather than iPhoto and iMovie...!

There is a company that makes bags for iMacs, but I don't know if they do one for the 24in..!

38lbs? Heck thats a quarter the weight of the old tower/CRT combination. How quickly you forget.... But i understand...I have to lug those suckers across two buildings when they are delivered here, and that 24-inch is definitely pushing the envelope for boxes having a handle built in like laptops.

The Cube is surprisingly heavy too. I think it's the fact that it's very dense - you don't expect something so small and apparently hovering in a plastic case to be as heavy as it is.

Nothing competes with my solid metal PowerTower Pro, with 4 hard drives and 4 other drives installed. Proabably around 80lbs. The Mac Mini is a nice contrast.

Installed Spanning Sync which nicely syncs ical with google calendar.

So I made the NEMINI calendar public and searchable. I'm not sure if there is a way to associate tags with it to help search, but anyone can access it here:

And I think you can now subscribe to it not only with google calendar but also with ical. Please try.

Just have to chaeck a couple of things in Google - everything is off about 5 hours - I'll let you know

I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to iCal... how do I subscribe to the google calendar with iCal..? When I cut and pasted the URL into the subscribe box, I got an error...
