(and more importantly, is it still well-polished?)
Sorry...had to go there.

Back on-topic...the only way to secure your data other than physical is encryption. I'm not crazy abou FileVault because if something goes wrong, you are almost dead in the water, but it is a good idea to make an encrypted sparse disk image that you can mount and drop your sensitive data into, in case it does ever physically fall into the wrong hands.

I just posted an inquiry on NEMINI- I know Ed handed it off, but I can't remember who to. I'll report back... I know someone mentioned it recently in an Ed memorial thread there.

Not a big thing.....and I sure don't want/need it back. Nice to see it making the rounds out there.

Maybe we should calll it the "BakerEd Knob"?

Sounds like it is being passed around among the NEMINI folks, in the manner that Ed had started. BakerEd knob sounds better than what I was thinking of, something like 'Rent-a-Knob', in case we wanted to do this as another charity. I wonder if Doug Whalen could make a duck knob?

Nothing like dropping your 12" powerbook, having it die, finding all 983824384023 screws to open the thing up, disconnecting a few things, putting it back together, and having it work again.

I think maybe Renata has it. Maybe. But yes, it is making the rounds.

How do you drop your notebook when you're laying in bed?

I thought I heard the DHL man...and then it fell off my bed when I went to check.

You got a thing for the DHL guy? Do you peek through the curtains at him? Does he know you're looking?

How do you feel about FedEx uniforms? I hear John is pretty buff in his.

OK, in the BakerEd manner. But now that you mention it...

(Sorry for the Geek thread hijack, now back to your regularly scheduled programming...)

Yes, Renata had it for a while, she passed it off to me when Uptick got his new car and I passed the Whalen off to Megz when I got the 2005 MOT Whalen knob.

Oh no! The Cheeses are invading MINI2!

I knew Meg had it, but I thought she had it before Renata. But now that you mention it, I vaguely remember some sort of switch-off at MOT.

I can just picture Jared, with Christmas-like glee running to the door to get his package, as if he'd heard reindeer landing on the ROOF.
