Actually they were pretty good about it the time my son Zach bought his 12" Powerbook. The day it arrived they announced a $200 price decrease. Zach bought it on an academic discount so there was no dealer to talk to directly and after a supervisor involved we worked it out

I never knew they did price protection... They were good when Jane got her new PB and they forgot to tell her about the $200 off the iPod and those other offers. She went back and they effectively took it back and resold it on a new invoice with the iPod on it too. Sold the Gen3 on ebay and got a Gen4 for $89

Do you mean a 6115? That's what we used to have, and I saw a 6116 in Goodwill in Davis Sq. the other day so I would guess that there won't be very many takers.

Nope... 615 - google for it.

I just recycled my 7100/66, though. The 8500 with a G3 upgrade card is still in my posession, but hasn't been fired up in a while.

Our 6115 would still be online if we had a place to put it. It used to be on the network via an AAUI adapter or something because it was NUBUS!

I remember when the 61/71/8100 series came out...nobody thought you would ever need more than 80mhz. The minimum requirement for that game Absolute Zero was 80 or 90mhz.

We actually got a clock-chip accelerator or something and overclocked it to 86mhz or so, but after a while it was probably running too hot and the computer got lame so I took that thing out.

Oh yeah, notice I said "PowerPC 615" not "PowerMac 615"...

I remember playing Doom on it back in the mid 90's - at work - as directed.

I think you mean Centris 615 or Quadra 615. they were 040s not PPCs.

I don't have a bone in my body that can throw out electronics. It must be sold, usually on ebay. My parts-built 6100 is still under my bed, my PowerTowerPro with 8 drives in the basement. And I really wish I still had my Classic but that was sold as was my 7100av.

Quote:
[2-8] What is the PowerPC 615?
There were a couple of conflicting rumors regarding the 615. The primary one suggested that the 615 was a PowerPC processor, being designed by IBM, which would have special x86 emulation hardware. Another rumor suggested that it would be pin-compatible with Intel OverDrive sockets.

IBM has denied that the project even exists. This is substantiated by the lack of any mention of the 615 recently.
