| Important Caravan Information: I spoke twice this week with our YC contact (John Schieffelin) and we are all set to go. A couple of items regarding the YC site and the Caravan: - per someone's suggestion, we will have an electrical hook-up at the MINI Canopy while we are at Yankee Candle. This is an excellent opportunity to recharge your FRS/GMRS radios and camera batteries. First come, first served at the power strip. - due to payload restrictions, this year Carol and I will not be supplying free bottled water. Make sure you bring some to avoid dehydration. For those who feel especially generous, if the spirit moves you to donatesome water, and you have a cooler with ice, any help would be appreciated. - we will be having a free raffle at YC for some goodies (MINI R/C car, etc.) so each attending MINI will be given a ticket. - make sure you dowload the route/driving directions from the YC/Area 51 website. We will not be able to hand these out this year. - FRS/GMRS radios tune to Channel 7 (no subchannel) for the event and the subsequent trip to the Whites. - PM me if you want my cell phone number. - I'm looking for a contact at Area 51 with whom I can exchange cell phone numbers. That way, we can update the Area 51 folks with our arrival time. | ATTENTION AREA 51 FOLKS !! Last year there were reports of I-93 traffic congestion from Boston to the NH state line on the Friday before MOT. Evidently, traffic thinned-out by the time one reached the Manchester/Concord area. If you will be passing through that area of I-93 in MA, please allow enough time for traffic slow-downs so that you will be able to be at Area 51 by 2:30pm. Thanks! | Theo, Sorry for last minute mess-about-ness ... I have been thinking that I want to be up at Gorham earlier in the day, and with the extra compexity of having my Dad & his wife trailing in a non-MINI, I will bow out of meeting Area 51 folks. I will no doubt see you at T&C Friday evening. |
