Last year was:

Pipe
Ducttape
Uptick
LordoftheFlies

Who knows what we'll get this year?

As for time - I don't know yet. I forget how long it takes to get up that far. I don't think it should too much of an issue.

May have some interest in meeting up. Plan to leave PA early Friday. Not sure if we plan to stop in Southern NH to visit the folks or not.

From eastern PA...say, Philly...it would be about 4.5 hours to Yankee Candle. Since we are targeting a near-noon (maybe 1:00) departure, one would need to leave Philly around 7:00 or 7:30. I'm not sure whether you are closer of farther than the Philly area.

But, since you have relatives in NH, you probably have a good idea of travel times and routes.

Potential Route Change

Our trip to the T&C last year took us up I-91 into northern VT and then turned east toward the White Mountains.

This year I thinking that if we do the Yankee Candle Caravan, we might want to avoid I-91 and travel northeast toward the Whites over some intersting local roads. Essentially, the route would head toward Keene, NH (picking up any MAMA members in that area) and travel backroads to Concord, NH. There we would get on I-93 and head north to the Whites. We might also be able to arrange to join some Boston-area folks with a meet-up along I-93 north of Concord.

Imagine a MINI Caravan of 20 to 30 MINIs!

What do you think?

You're getting closer to getting me interested, but you're still too far south / east.

Yet another splendid idea Theo... the nice roads thru Keene and beyond are much more
MINI- esque than the mundane interstate, and if we can troll in more MINI's on that route...
as you said " Just imagine...".

Jeff

How can you be in two places at once, when you're not anywhere at all ?

Yo, Willy-man

You calling where I live 'back roads'? Actually, you'll do just as well time-wise coming through Keene and up Rte. 9, etc. as coming over from farther N on 91.

Theo,

My wife Phyllis and I are coming up from NJ and staying in CT with friends in Walllingford on Thursday night (near I-91, south of YC. So we'd love to join you on Friday morning at YC for the trip north.

I definitely favor your plan to go on back roads as much as possible, and to leave as early as possible from YC to allow time for a nice twisty drive.

What happens at T&C on Friday evening? And Sat morning? We'll have to drive south again Sat morning for Loon--so would it be better for us all to stay near Loon (e.g. Woodstock) Friday night instead of T&C? What do folks think?

Thanks for organizing this!

Shep and AprilWhine --

Welcome to the Caravan! As of right now, the block of rooms allocated for MOT folks at the T&C are all taken. They may have other rooms, but the reserved block is gone. Check the MOT website for lodging alternatives.

The T&C is the MOT "headquarters" and the location for some terrific socializing! However, it is not imperative that you stay in that neck of the woods. There are other accomodations further south, but you may have a harder time reserving a room due to the Laconia "Bike Week" participants wishing to stay in that area. Reserve NOW!

______________________________________

TO ALL --

Well, so far we have 12 tentative participants for YC and 11 MINIs heading north to MOT so...

LET'S MAKE THIS PUPPY OFFICIAL!

I'll organize some timeframes and sent out PMs to you all as the date approaches. I also need to contact my person at YC to make sure they will be ready for us!

Cheers!

Theo

Since it's now official, I made your thread a sticky.

Fuzzy and I have reservations at the T&C, made in December.
