To All,

If you intend to travel to the western MA area on Thursday, there is a Red Roof Inn right next door to Yankee Candle in South Deerfield, MA. I think rooms with 2 queen beds run about $80 before any discounts (AAA, F.Flyer, AARP, etc.). AARP...did I say that out loud?

Yes , you did say AARP out loud , just like my wife Patty calls out to me when a AARP registration form comes in the mail ... Great job organizing the Caravan, Theo !!!!

If there is anything you need to delegate, let me know.

Jeff

I don't think I can make the MINIvan - my teenage daughter has final exams that Friday - so we'll leave central NJ mid-afternoon.

Does YC have a website? Anyone know how late they're open on Friday nights? My wife really wants to stop there... OR maybe it would make more sense to it on the way back sunday??

Bobbie,

Carol and I will arrive between 8:00 and 8:30 to put up the MINI canopy and get some stuff organized. This year I'm hoping we can leave the YC lot at around 12:00 noon so that we can enjoy the "back roads" route to the Whites.

Finster certainly has had his woes recently! I'm sure he'll be ready for June 17th, though.

Hope to see you and Howie there.

Theo

Please check the first post of this thread for brand new information about meeting time, meeting place, and the tentative route.

Thanks!

Theo -

I don't know if Uptick, Ducttape, or LordofTheFlies (Shoe) are heading up to MOT this year so you could probably remove them from the list. Ducttape has child graduation issues...

Still interested. Your route works out great. If we spend Thursday night with our friends in Greenfield (MA) we could jump in as the caravan passes on Rt. 91 or we could just zip down to YC on Friday AM.

Folks,

In the next week, I'll be posting links to maps showing the proposed route to Gorham (actually, Shelburne). I have traveled this route north many times but I need to check out several less-traveled portions and determine an appropriate location for a "catch up point" before we head onto the Kancamagus. I'll post the route anyway and update the links if need be.

Some general info about driving the route:

The driving time from Yankee Candle to the Town and Country will be about 4.5 hours. However, to allow the caravan to regroup (I'm guessing that there will be some MINIs that will want to drive faster than others!) and to allow any Boston-area MINIs to join us, we will divide the drive into three sections; between each section we will have a 0.5 hour bio-break and catch up period. Thus, actual elapsed time will be 5.5 hours. If we leave Yankee Candle at 12:00 noon sharp, we will be at the T&C by 5:30 pm.

Section 1: Driving time - 1:15, Distance 62 miles
Start: Yankee Candle lot
End: Rest stop on north side of NH Rt 9 near Antrim, NH (Rest Rooms)
Arrival time: ~ 1:15 pm
Length of stop: not to exceed 30 minutes

Section 2: Driving time - 1:40, Distance 97 miles
Start: Rest stop in Antrim, NH
End: Convenience store/Gas Station in Lincoln, NH (Rest Rooms, Gas) TBD
Arrival time: ~ 3:30 pm
Length of stop: not to exceed 30 minutes

Section 3: Driving time - 1:50, Distance 66 miles
Start: Convenience store/Gas Station (TBD) in Lincoln, NH
End: Town and Country Motor Lodge in Shelburne, NH (Beds, Food, Beer)
Arrival time: ~ 5:15-5:30 pm

More info and map links during the week.
