Still going through the prizes in the Peabody Mini roof box

The only raffle I've ever won, but this one was worth it. I thought I put in only for the roof rack, so was a little surprised to say the least when I found out a roof box, installation, and just about every Mini-logo'd item came with it. I am still making my way through all the "swag" Mini of Peabody stuffed into the roof box that was driven up on top of the counterfeit mini (genius in itself).

I am still in shock, but the guys at Peabody definitely have me as a customer for life! Thanks to all the organizers once again and I will be sending Martin at MiniPeabody a note this week.

Many congratulations! That was a fabulous treasure trove for any MINI owner ...
BTW, the car is on the sales lot at MINI Peabody if anyone wants it

Pics of the Counterfeit MINI here

Thanks to MINI Peabody for putting together this fabulous counterfeit, and for donating the roof rack & box and all its wondrous contents ...

Thanks also to our other local dealership, Herb Chambers, for the leased MINI ...

Louie,
Do you have a list of the items that were in the box? Some of us are interested

MOT Mini Peabody swag list and roof rack observations

Off the top of my head, Ian, this is what was in it:

* Mug (paint-by-numbers)
* 1/25 Diecast Mini
* Remote control Mini (great for chasing lazy and ill-behaved cats)
* Mini pins
* Mini pen/laser pointer
* Two Mini watches
* Glove box organizer
* Empty hole console holder
* Mini house slippers
* Interior cleaner
* Wheel cleaner
* Hat
* Key chain
* 2 pairs funky sunglasses (too cool for me to wear)
* Many shirts, jumpers, a jacket....
* Of course, the roof rack and the Mini roof box

Just got the guys at Peabody to install the rack and it's a hoot. I discovered that the Mini can be a good dive vehicle for two fully loaded divers with gear and multiple tanks, when the roof box is used for throwing wet, stinky dive gear. This way, I don't have to make up excuses for not driving when my dive buddy wants to carpool.

One thing about anyone who is considering getting a roof rack -- the things are loud and drop your mileage by about 10-15%. I generally avg about 30-32 mpg, and was getting 26-28 with the rack installed (no box). It causes a loud audible whistle, so I'll be keeping it off until I need it.

BTW, if anyone wants some larger sized Mini clothing, let me know...lot of L and XL stuff

Say what? I don't see that kind of drop in mileage with the box on. Redo your math please.

As for the whistle, pull the rubber inserts out. See if it clears up.

Haven't noticed any dramatic change in gas mileage, but you're not kidding about the wind noise - sounds like a jet plane taxiing. Wind stability suffers too. I leave mine off when I don't need it.

My rubber inserts are lost. (I know somebody's gonna have some fun with that statement.)

Ask the OBC -- that was calculated off of the same tank of gas over two 100 mile comparison segments with the same mix of highway/street driving. Tested it again on a separate trip of just highway and it was 33 without the racks, 30 with. Convinced me, which is a shame, since I actually like the way they look.

Do it on paper over 4 or 5 tanks.......I think you'll see better numbers.

But, I don't drive like 3M does, so that could be a factor.

(Hey, 3M, .................)
