UPDATED! Your MAMA goes to the Movies. Sat,, August 20th
3M and HarveyJospeh productions presents:
MAMA @ the movies
The date is set the, the route has been pre-run, the weather (hopefully) is looking good. We will be meeting at the Budweiser Brewery plant in Merrimack, Nh on Saturday, August 20th at 10 am. We have a tour set for the brewery with a "sampling session" (yes, there is a limit) afterwards. Following the tour there will be a run to the Milford Fish Hatchery and then a spirited drive through the twisty roads of Lyndeborough, Wilton and Temple to Pack Monadnock (Miller State Park), where we will have our BBQ at the summit. Volunteers would be greatly appreciated for the following items:
Hot Dogs, Hamburger, Charcoal, snacks, water jugs and/or empty milk jugs for water to extinguish the grills. As well as anything you may wish to bring for a BBQ. This is a very scenic spot and will provide for some fantastic photo opportunities. The cost to drive to the summit will be a group rate of $2.40 per person (normally $3/person).
Afterwards we will drive to the Milford Drive-in with an optional stop at Haywards Ice Cream.
Please keep in mind there will be two screens at the theater and you are to choose which double feature you would like to see, switching screens between films is not permitted (although walking over to the other screen for an extended visit with a fellow Mini owner might be overlooked ). Let's keep this a fun day, we would like to be welcomed back.

- a longer run through Hancock, Bennington, Francetown, Mont Vernon (probably 90 minutes).
- short run along the roads between Jaffrey and Milford - I'm thinking Nashua Road in Sharon, through Temple, to Wilton; or the roads that run by Pratt Pond (30 minutes)
- the short run option would permit a MINI hillclimb up Pack Monadnock - well worth the $3 adminission price on a clear afternoon!
The only problem I see is who is going to be responsible for letting Secco out on 101 West after midnight when the drive-in closes? An unacceptable liability for the whole group, I think.
, but I have an army of mouthpieces on retainer, headed by my pal, Chuck Douglas.
They bail me out faster than Carmela Soprano can get to the Paramus Mall.
Dusk 'til Dawn at the Pit, that's the ticket. Did I say ticket? Yikes
Derek, I have a box of frisbees and plastic cups that were donated from advanced auto parts. I didn't use them in Bar Harbor, you can have them for this event if you want them.
Typical ambulance chaser remark....liability, my patootie! Who'll be responsible for the molestation charges against 3M with his new honey at the passion pit? Steamy windows??? What we should do is have el Grande stop at Down 'n' Dirty for lots of take-out and bring us the eats at the drive-in
I just got off the phone yesterday with "Bob" the owner of the Milford Drive-in. One of the remarks he said I thought a bit funny. He said he's ahd several car clubs come and do this before and they always say they would be bringing a bunch and he's never seen more than about 15 actually show up. I think we should definately break that record.....
Also he did say that grills would be allowed, however they MUST BE EXTINGUISHED BY 5
PM... he did not ellaborate as to why. I have to let him know what weekend and date we would be doing this so that he could have staff there early enough to accomodate us.
Any preferences? I told him sometime probably mid-August. Jester's Mom was working on something similar with Ocean State, so I'm hoping we can combine the two events and have as big a turn-out as possible. So far it looks like we would not be getting any kind of group rates and we wouldn't be doing any pre-sales on the tixx,, just pay when we get there, but that's simply because he didn't think there would be that many showing up.
I need opinions on the best date to do this and then I will pick a date, at which time I'll start compililning a list of who's going, who's not and who's prospectively Bakering..
That is all for now
BTW, great ideas, we will talk...
John...... My new g/f lives in Harvey and Terry's living room, you can borrow her, I'll be bringing the future Mrs. 3M... she has legs and can go fetch my dirnks and popcorn, etc... LMAO!
My life is ubelievably busy so advanced warning is best for me (like most). I'm off in Derry so it's a small haul, but I'm sure I could at least meet everyone at the theatre.
As for me personally anytime in mid-august is great; Wednesday, Thursday and/or Friday evenings are best for me.
