Make your own sundae tour - MINI style

Hey,

Years, well decades, ago, when I was in college, I was dating this very nice young lady with long straight blonde hair and legs....nevermind. Anyway, she was from Manasquan, NJ. Her name then was Linda Kenny (wonder what it is now?) and she drove this tired VW bug all over creation. Her father was a piano player in Asbury Park and his name was Ken Kenny. I digress due to sad memories. She dumped me for the 'home' boyfriend and transferred to Monmouth College. Oh well, I hope she's well and happy and teaching somewhere.

Anyway, back in the 60s, we used to go to an ice cream place on the shore, Manasquan, Point Pleasant Beach, ???. There you could buy ice cream then head to this buffet-style bar and make your own sundae. Are there still places like this in our region?

I'm starting from the South and working my way North up the corridor. Is the Jersey shore place still there?

Are there other places like this? I know of one that was on White Plains Rd. in Mamaroneck, NY but it's long gone.

Let's pig out on customized sundaes in customized MINIs!

Lawdy, Lawdy, the Cross I bear.

They had a few around the Farmington Valley here in CT. All I can recall is the buffet counter was a real mess after a few families with kids passed thru.

I really dislike people who can't eat ice cream without making a mess. Why can't they be more like me?

She had long straight blonde legs? Do you mean with no knees?

knees were fairly far down the list of her notable characteristics but I seem to recall they were there, about 12-14" from the hem of her skirt. She was and probably still is a very nice lady, dammit.

Seems she made the right choice. Woo her with Ice Cream and your spare MINI.

This place might be worth a look: Beech Hill Farm

Seems to have a lot to offer in addition to the "sundae bar". If we plan it for after August 1st we can experience the "Granite State Corn Maze" in all it's glory!

If she was a "nice lady", then I guess we can assume which direction you're talking about with that hem (12" below the knee, of course).

Shouldn't that be "Corn Maize"? Oooh, I'm in rare form tonight...

ice cream smorgasborg..........

I'm having a wicked senior moment here. there is a place several miles north of MINI of Peabody on the northbound side of RT. 1 in Danvers (?) that sells awesome ice cream and a HUGE table of toppings to make your own sundae. once my brain catches up with me I'll edit this with the name.

PUTNAM PANTRY!

I'm not old enough to have all these "remember when" thoughts.

There was some build-a-sundae place I vaguely remember... perhaps lakes region NH?

How about Bailey's Ice Cream, downtown Boston near the Common? I remember a hot fudge sundae with hot fudge dripping all over the side of the dish, on the plate, on the table. Yum!

Steve's Ice Cream (also Boston) with the mix-ins? Done on the marble slab?

I thought that was cold stone ice cream or whatever the name of that new trendy place is. Haven't been there yet.
Locally we're still angry about big brother JPLicks taking over our local dikescream as we called it. Not nearly as good.

You guys are killing me with all this talk of make your own sundae places!!!! Apart from my house and Cold Stone Creamery, I'm not aware of any such places down here and I've heard mixed reviews about Cold Stone Creamery.

When you go, send me down a soft vanilla hot fudge sundae with rainbow sprinkles (not jimmies), whipped cream and a cherry. Thanks!
