Boston - what to do ?

Myself and two colleagues will be over your side of the pond from 17th to 26th July, it's a manic work schedule while we are there but hopefully we'll fit in a couple of evenings r&r, and if we can pull our fingers out and put in some late hours maybe get a bit of a daytime break to see what is on offer in the area.

We'll be in the Needam area which I understand is pretty industrial but are there any good eateries around there, and if we get a few hours spare oneday where do we go?

If any of the folks on here fancy a beer one evening it would be good to meet up, we'll need to keep it flexible though as this is a major project with sometight timelines which cannot afford to be missed for a beer !!

Well perhaps maybe we can organize something that you can shoehorn in to welcome you mini-style.

Snek lives in needham, you may wish to PM him with questions on where to eat there, but you'll certainly want to head into boston at some point!
We also have a big discussion on restaurants here.

You certainly wont have any trouble finding beer!

Bob,

Any chance of you bringing back a Weber Go-Anywhere Gas BBQ for me, please?

I can't get this in the UK

True, Needham has an industrial section (the first one built along the Rt 128/I95 "technology highway"), but it's mostly residential.

jwardell is right - although there is a number of good restaurants in Needham (a Japanese steak house, two Thai restaurants, an Indian, few Chinese, Italian restaurant etc,) for entertainment after 9 PM, you'll need to head into Boston.

PM me if you want more info.

And leaving a week early for the next best thing, the MAMA's Berries & BBQ run on the 30th July....http://www.mini2.com/forum/showthrea...hlight=Berries

A fellow MINI dude owns the ice cream shop in the Needham MBTA ("T") commuter rail station, you could visit him and hop the train into Boston.

In addition to Snek's hometown eateries, there are some nice ones in the next town north, Wellesley.

Lots of info here www.boston.com

Someone's found the beer, it seems.

I would throw myself into the merciful hands of GBMINI, snek, Eliot Turansky,...heck any of the Boston crowd can pack more fun into your few minutes. Just bring cases of Spotted Richard.

Above all, tell no one where you will be working. We have a curious habit of invading small countries and large corporations.

There's fine dining in Waltham also

About 5 miles north from Needham is Waltham.

http://www.discoverwaltham.com/dining.php

There are many, many restaurants along Main and Moody streets -- Watch City Brewery (beer -- did someone say beer) and places like Demos (best Greek gyros anywhere), and Naked Fish (seafood) on the outskirts of downtown.

And, saving, the best for last -- Tuscan Grill -- especially if you are on an expense account!
