Come visit me at Herb Chambers - Aug 12

Well with the help of Pete, my saga may be nearing an end. Mark up at HC has asked to look at my car, and he sounds confident they can get this sorted out. I'm just thrilled to hear a dealer actually acknowledge the problem and off a possible fix. So next Friday, the 12th, I'll be taking yet another day off from work and heading up to Boston. Feel free to stop by and hassle me. I wouldn't expect any less from you.

Wow! Hopefully good news ... curious - why HC and not MoP?

It might be entertaining to get a "gang" of MINI2ers to hit HC - they are unlucky to be used to it, like MoP are

Because Pete knows the service guy there. At this point, I'm willing to try anything. This will now be the 5th time with the 3rd dealer in the 3rd state for this problem. And he couldn't understand how I put 3000 miles on my car in a month

Why not?

Why not Herb Chambers ? I've been having my warranty work done there since I've had my car, and have been very satisfied. I've been very pleased with the work done. On occasion, the tech working on my car has made a mistake. Mark made sure the problem was corrected immediately and went above and beyond to make sure I left satisfied. what more can you ask for.
H.C. has been working hard to re-gain the publics confidence, and very hard to develop a high quality service dept. Mark and I have become friends, and i've asked him to personally oversee this project, he's assured me Annette will be in good hands.
He called me today, to let me know Annette called and to reassure me he'll do everything possible to help her.

the end result will be interesting.

I do not disagree. As you notice in my post I was only "curious".

As for "why not" - my best reason is that they are in the middle of the city and difficult to get to. MoP, being on US route 1, are that much easier to reach.

I remember my test drive at HC back in 2002 - I got to drive a good five minutes along a frantically busy road towards Boston, then I got to turn round and drive back. Of course I bought my (first) MINI there anyway, because they were prepare to sell their demo car. And yes I had no trouble with them then either - it was easy to buy the car and I was very pleased to own one within a week or so of learning about them.

As I said before I am quite tempted to suggest we organize a gathering down there - the downsides are the traffic to get there, the lack of parking (has that improved) and (at least back in 2002) it was a small place squeezed in beside ?Porsche? upstairs from ?BMW?, not very conducive to a gathering. But then for exactly that reason, it might be fun to turn up and see how much has improved in the last three years.

Anyone else up for visiting HC & NoNo next Friday?

sorry man, I guess I'm so used to the H.C. bashing whenever their name is mentioned I jumped the gun. Except for the first time,I've never found it hard to get to H.C.(right off the pike). I'm not sure how the parking will be for more than ten or so minis.
I may come up for a while, but will probably have to get back to work.

I'd love to visit with my partner in brown-ness, but the timing is a bit off.

Good luck, Annette!

And... you want to come to the British Invasion in Stowe

Woohoo! Yes, I am aiming to get there when they open. Of course, that means I'll have to leave my place at 5 am, but it's still better than sitting in traffic if I were to leave any later. Come! Visit! Buy me food! Are you happy now, Jared? You said I had to come up to Boston more, and here I come.

I have to side with Pete in that I've seen more postings recently about people with positive service experiences at HC. Knowing what's on the line with this situation especially, between knowing Pete and knowing that I'm involved in the MINI community, I'd think they'd make extra-sure they did things right. At least, that's what I'm telling myself to justify this trip. Today at work, someone asked me if I'd buy another MINI. Before this fiasco, I would have whole-heartedly said YES! Now, I'm not so
sure. The service really kills the enjoyment.

British Invasion, eh? Hmmm........that would almost work. I have to be at a conference in Portland from the 18-22. I guess I could swing over from Stowe Sunday morning

While I bought my Mini from MoP (their salesman responded to e-mail first), since I work in Cambridge, I'd be interested to find out about service at HC. I can't hang around all day, but would be interested in dropping in sometime.
