iPod Connectivity

Hi Mike,

I have a Boost CD headunit with factory changer, H/K and SatNav in my Jun 2004 MCS, but i also want to connect my iPod Nano (3rd Gen).

Do you know if i can use some Aux Leads (NewMINIStuff.com) with a jack plug to plug into the headphone socket on the Nano?

I'm not looking to get sophisticated with this as it's fairly short term, so charging the Nano isn't a major consideration or having control through the h/u or display on the Nav screen. Just want to have the sound and control the iPod directly. Probably mount the iPod on a no holes bracket next to the h/u (NewMINIStuff.com) with a passive cradle.

Can you tell me if this will work ok?

Cheers
Bob.

Our aux in for boost will work - BUT
The socket where it plugs into already has the sat nav plug in it
So you need to one by one unclip the pins from our plug & plug them into the sat nav plug in the back of your stereo - same positions.
There are 3 pins to move

Thanks Mike.

Is that a relatively easy thing to do? Do the two piggyback the same plug then? I have changed stereos in the past so can do simple wiring, but splicing and soldering, etc may be a bit advanced.

Cheers
Bob.

The main loom is plug & play, then there is a 12 pin connector, use a small screwdriver or pin to release the lock on each pin (3 of them) & insert them into the same positions (empty) in the existing 12 pin plug - no soldering or cutting

That's what you have to do to fit the Genuine MINI iPod wire, isn't it?

Mike - thanks for sorting me out on Monday. Hopefully the loom will arrive by the weekend so i can have a go at installing everything.

Now received.

Hopefully get it in and running at the weekend. Taking the pins out seems pretty straight-forward, think the hardest bit will be getting the stereo out!! But got the instructions for that!

Thanks again.

All installed and up and running. Thanks Mike.

It was a really simple job, hardest thing was getting the support legs back in. Sound quality seems fine to my untrained ears.

Really pleased.
