California has many regional Mini & MINI Car Clubs. There is not just a single club serving California. A couple charge nominal yearly dues, but most do not. Try them out. Join the club(s) that you enjoy the most.
Norcal Minis has members from Mendocino to Monterey and the Pacific to Nevada. Over 500 members. Come along for a ride. You don't have to be a member. All Little British Cars are welcome . Cell 510-919-8889. LarryP VP/Events
Central Coast Mini Club still has web presence, but the site has not been updated or finished in over 3 years. Discussions on other boards indicate that they never succeeded in getting more than a small handful of members and shortly thereafter disbanded; now waiting for their domain name to expire. They were removed from the list as well.
It seems as the car becomes less unique, many of the smaller clubs are dying off or merging, and the once large and strong clubs have shrunk drastically in size. Some clubs are just holding their own and others are seeing significant growth. Time will only tell if the dying clubs will be replaced with new energetic clubs or whether there will be only a few clubs left standing in California over the next few years.
I hope that the car retains it's allure to the US population and that all area clubs continue to not only co-exist but flurish with the influx of new enthusiastic drivers.
im looking on moving to San Luis Obispo in the central coast CA next year! i currently own a 02 cooper in Ireland but would definately be interested in upgrading to a cooper S over there, any local MINI clubs near SLO direction?
Deano, welcome to the area. Unfortunately there are not currently any clubs on the Central Coast. The two closest clubs would MidCal Minis out of Fresno and Redwood Empire Mini Enthusiasts since we do have active members in both the Bay Area and the Northern portion of the Central Valley (south to around Modesto). We also have members on the Penninsula, and as far south as Monterey on the coast.
NorCal MINI is also a very active club operating primarily in the East Bay Area and there is the Mavericks in the South Bay Area, although they have become largely inactive. There are discussions on NAM and there are a few people that have expressed interest in starting a Mid California Coast club but as of yet there is no one willing to put in the time necessary to achieve this goal.
If there is any interest from our central coast members, REME would be interested in developing a local chapter there like we have done in the Mount Shasta Area, Sacramento Valley, and the East Bay Area, but someone will have to express interest before we step in.
See our website and forums for more information. Membership in REME is and will remain free.
It appears that this site no longer allows editing of prior posts even when you originially made them. It appears that the moderator will have to edit the list and yes, they should remove Maverick Minis.
