Minis Motoring Against Cancer Thanks to Sandie's keen eye, quick thinking, and generousity, Redwood Empire Mini Enthusiasts will be honored to take possession and carry the Minis Motoring Against Cancer Banner. This is a charitable cause that started with the Tar Heels Mini Club in North Carolina and has passed from club to club across the USA. Redwood Empire Mini Enthusiasts will take possession at AMVIV in Las Vegas and Sandie will carry it on to one of the clubs in Oregon. There will be a ceremony and pictures for the passing fo the flag at AMVIV. Here is the post from NAM that describes the origin and cause: MINIs Motoring Against Cancer -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Our club just lost a very good friend to cancer. He was an avid member and raced his Cooper on a regular basis. We wanted to do something in his honor and have decided to create a banner and send it around the country!!. Here's how it will work. We will start this banner in the Piedmont area of North Carolina. It will contain signatures of people who pass the banner on from MINI owner to MINI owner. All we ask for is a contribution to the American Cancer Society of any amount. I am sure that, as this goes around the country, there will be various other ideas and fundraiser ideas from other clubs, and owners. The contributions can be sent to your local chapter, since we are not asking that they be sent to our club. This will be a great way for the MINI community to be involved. We will plan to track the banner through this thread on NAM. Our club is asking for comments from others before we begin this project. The one thing we don't want is to start this and it doesn't get very far. Please share your comments. Our plan is to start this on 6/23 at our Touch the Sky rally at Mt. Mitchell, the highest point east of the Mississippi." We will be setting up a donation account with our local American Cancer Society so that the REME member can make donations in the name of Minis Motoring Against Cancer or Redwood Empire Mini Enthusiasts. I will post details once we have this set up. |

Minis Motoring Against Cancer In conjunction with the on-going effort started by the Tar Heel MINI Motoring Club, the Redwood Empire Mini Enthusiasts will be taking possesion of the Minis Motoring Against Cancer at AMVIV in Las Vegas and carrying on the cause. This is the banner that started in North Carolina and has been passed along from Mini Club to Mini Club across the country. This is a fund raising event to help fight cancer. REME will display the banner at our booth at AMVIV and then Sandie "Sandiepepper" Zduniak, Yreka CA, will carry it on to the Emerald Mini Club in Oregon. We have set up a donation account in the name of Redwood Empire Mini Enthusiasts with a goal of $1000. Please make your donation here. Thank you for your generousity. Happy Motoring!!! __________________ Last edited by pooper; Mar 12th, 2008 at 02:32 PM. |

Thanks to all that made donations. In just three short days we have exceeded our goal of $1000, $1065.00 as of today. That does not mean that we need to stop, only that we have alot of generous Mini enthusiasts. We will continue to welcome donations and will hold our drawing for the lucky winners at AMVIV in Las Vegas. You don't need to be present to WIN! All donors will get their names put into the hat and the lucky winners will be drawn on the parking lot roof of the Palace Station Hotel. Just to add a little more incentive to make a donation we have the following offered to entice you more: We will put the names of all who make donations in a hat, and we will draw names. The lucky winners will get the following: Wilma Champlin (gomini61)has donated a custom purse or travel bag to match your Mini. ( 3 ea) Barry Brazier of MC2 has donated a 1 year subscription to MC2 Magazine. Norm & Jesse Nelson (Pooper & Pynt Syz) have donated a New Corbeau Harness Belt set 4 Point P/N 44007S (Red) Another generous prize has been donated by Rob "Califzeph" Saunders & Christopher "Starlord" Calhoun of Miniology to the donor pool. They have donated: "15 Minutes of Fame" on the next Miniology podcast. A special interview goes to the lucky winner. You will be interviewed and can speak on any subject of your choice (within FCC regs.). This will be broadcast "worldwide" on Miniology. com.
