NorCal MINI Club

ok, sooner or later we're going to have a club. Why don't we start thinking of a name for it, so people out there can begin thinking about logos, websites, etc.

Yep, several people mentioned starting a club at the Mines rd. meet last saturday.

There is also the option of joining up with the existing mini club. I forget the name. I believe it is made up of mostly original minis. A fellow from that club spoke to me before the drive.

I'm open to a starting a club!

Life is short! Why drive a boring car?!

Starting a new club sounds good to me also, let me know if there is anything that I can do to help in the creation.

Is there any way those of us who want to start a club can get together in the next couple weeks? I am try to put together a meet on Feb 22nd, can you guys make that? If so we could just talk it over during lunch or something like that. Until then just brainstorm ideas for name logo things like that.

I think it would be easier to create a logo if we came up with a name first. As for the logo, i really like the MINI shirts with the car on the front in very low detail. It's hard to describe what I'm thinking, but you probably know what I mean. It would be cool to have that in the logo.

I don't know, just a couple of ideas.

Dark Silver

I like NorCal MINIS, kind of has a nice ring to it.

For the logo do you mean the front shot of the MINI? Just the shape of the car, similar to this picture, but a silhouette instead of detailed picture of the car.

I've got some ideas on a logo I'll try to put something rough together in photoshop and see what you guys think of it.

here's something i came up with really quick. give me some feedback. I think somebody could do a better job on the lettering than I did.

I actually really like that, similar to what I was thinking of, but much much better.

I think we should put NorCal as one word, just personal preference. I think it just looks better that way.

That logo would look good as a sticker, shirt, etc. Which will probably be important in the future for us.

I have been in touch with a few drivers who went to the Mt Ham meet on 1/18 to discuss the formation of a club. My feeling is that the logo & t-shirt design is the easy part. A real club with By-Laws, Board members, etc will require quite a bit of braintrusting (hopefully there's someone out there with such experience, maybe an attorney). Then we need to get a Tax ID number and have a savvy accounting-type person who knows something about tax responsibilities for a non-profit corporation.

But since the journey of a 1000 miles begins with the first step, why not jump in: we could have a short meeting during lunch break at the proposed 2/22 drive.

I could draw up an agenda (which can be added to by anyone with ideas) and distribute it that day.

A new MINI club in Southern Calif. is just about launched. It is named SoCal MINI Maniacs. Their website is www.scmm.org and it should be up any day now. They are having a run to Mt. Palomar and Julian, CA this Sat. I've been watching their progress from a distance. You might want to email Don Burnside at don@scmm.org for info on how they set up the club, a copy of their by-laws, etc.

Good luck with your club!

I emailed the SoCal MINI club and got a response. My email got forwarded to the president, who they think will be willing to help us get off the ground.

The logo looks great! Maybe we Could do the S in a different font more like the S is on the S?

Nice logo but don't you think us regular Cooper owners will feel a little slighted by the "S" in MINIS.
